Lenoir is named for the grape with hardy rootstock growing all over the Texas Hill Country, an homage to the beauty of this part of the state. Since opening early in 2012, our focus has always been on cooking the best of what Central Texas has to offer with spice, heat and robust flavor. At Lenoir, we celebrate seasonal Texas ingredients, we cook for the season (and the weather - hot!) and we serve it with fantastic beer and wine from great grower-producers all over the world. Todd Duplechan and Jessica Maher met while honing their cooking skills in NYC. Todd is a native Texan, raised in the Dallas area by Cajun and German-American parents. Jess is a native of New Jersey, raised in Northern Nevada by parents with strong Irish and Spanish roots. Both of their families taught them to grow food and to cook it thoughtfully as a gift to the people they love. Both were drawn to restaurants and cooking as a means to travel and learn as much about cooking and food culture as possible. And both felt there was no better home than Austin, TX for a farm-to-table, mom-and-pop restaurant to share all of their experiences with others. At Lenoir, Todd and Jess work side-by-side on all matters that pertain to the restaurant, along with a talented, thoughtful kitchen and service staff, without whom this small business would not exist. Restaurants are really people businesses, above all, and Lenoir exists to serve a community with good food, drink, friendliness and humor.
“I came for my birthday and sat in the garden under the terrace. It was an amazing experience. We opted out of the tasting menu and got a bunch of small plates instead. The staff were knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and you could tell they enjoyed being there. Everything is farm-to-table with a seasonal menu that changes often, so you’ll always be able to try something fresh and new. Next time I come, I will be getting the tasting menu which was $65 per person for 4 courses. They started us out by trying a bunch of different wines to find the right option for dinner. We then selected one item from each section on the menu and each dish was perfectly timed, to where it came out a minute or two after the last was finished. At the end, I was offered a birthday treat but politely declined because I was satisfied. Instead they gave me a hand written card from the staff with birthday wishes and treats for my next visit. I also had a delightful birthday conversation with the Head Service Manager Miguel, which was insightful and a pleasant added touch. I ended the night talking with Chef Todd who was overseeing Boni’s next door - their new cocktail lounge. I didn’t have time then, but next time I will definitely start or end my evening at Boni’s. Lenoir is very farm to table and Chef Todd takes that to heart. He also sets up dinners at a local farm called the Refugee Collective that I’ve gone to in the past. He truly is an amazing chef who takes pride in his craft. You won’t be disappointed with anything you order from here. I can’t thank this staff enough for making my birthday so special - such a wonderful experience!”
“We came here for our anniversary and had the Chef’s Choice menu. Absolutely wonderful!! Such interesting flavor profiles. We particularly loved the beef carpaccio (pictured below) as well as the blue crab manicotti (forgot to snap a pic). Such a lovely romantic vibe. Can’t wait to return!”
“No wonder this place is hard to get into! We snagged a last minute reservation on a day where temps were dropping in the evening, but were still able to enjoy their lovely patio with all the heat lamps. Great wine based cocktails and a fun wine list. Loved the smoky drink especially and the orange wine from Chile 🧡🔥 We were recommended 3-5 dishes for 2 people and ended up ordering 5 because we couldn’t decide. At least something on the menu changes every 3 weeks, so won’t describe every dish. BUT, EVERYTHING that we ordered we would get again! It’s been a while since that has happened, especially in Austin. Just wow on all the flavors, textures and acidity balance. Cannot wait to return and maybe get to the desert the time…the basque cheesecake has our name on it, but we were too full! Will just have to come back within 3 weeks!”
“One of our favorite places. We’ve dined here several times throughout the years and have enjoyed it very much. To celebrate life and also just because. The atmosphere is warm and cozy inside and the wine garden is nicely lit up. While I would say I am not typically a fan of a rotating menu, I thoroughly enjoy the change up here. (Although if I say so myself the squash, crawfish pasta, beef cheek with mushrooms, and honey pie are very missed!!! Bring back anytime! 😆) We did the tasting menu our very first time, but it works best for us to just order 4-5 things off the menu that we find interesting and unique. We always ask our server as well and we’ve never been misguided. The pullman bread is a classic that is always enjoyed every time. Crab fingers and hushpuppies are also menu staples that are good and seem to be available year round. We also enjoy the red wine selection they have. Most recently we had the roasted chili lime chicken and the sweet potato gnocchi which was great! We would 100% recommend and will be back.”
“We came down from Dallas and were excited to try farm to table food . The service was absolutely amazing! The hostess the waitress and the entire team were kind and helpful. The food was a disappointment. We did the fixed menu. The oysters and crab were good. The second dish was almost inedible for us. It was really off putting and we didn't eat it. The whole fish was cooked well. The dessert was good but not great. For the price of the food we were underwhelmed. The atmosphere was pleasant and clean. Unfortunately I don't think we would return do to leaving still hungry almost $300+ later.”
