“I know I'm usually a positive review but tonight was truly a 5 star experience. Ireland was great as our server and the food was outstanding. My wife had the scallops and the cook was perfection! I had the pimento cheese burger and the balance with the bacon jam was awesome. The PEI muscles we terrific. Really fun choose your own glass of wine experience. Can't wait to come back later this week. Thanks again for a wonderful dinner.”

“Our server, Dara, was so friendly and knowledgeable of the food. We didnt have wine but they have a nice selection. We took her recommendations on the fried green tomato app and crab cakes were phenomenal. She was spot on. the remoulade for the crab cakes perfection. The freshest ingredients. I had the arugula and beet salad and it was refreshing. My burger was good and the Brussels sprouts were delicious. Definitely a place I would come back to. it beat our expectations which our high since my husband is a chef.”

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was fantastic—intimate, stylish, and perfect for a relaxed date night or a sophisticated evening out with friends. It's a genuinely great spot that hits all the right notes for ambiance and service. The staff truly elevate the experience; they were great hosts—attentive, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. A special shout-out must be given for their impressive expertise: they were very wine knowledgeable, offering insightful recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal. Their guidance made navigating the extensive wine list enjoyable and rewarding. However, the culinary highlight was the food, specifically the Crab Cake. I simply have to dedicate a special mention to this dish because it was, without exaggeration, out of this world delicious. I genuinely cannot remember when I last had a Crab Cake that good—it sets a new standard entirely! It was perfectly seared with a beautiful golden crust, incredibly moist on the inside, and packed full of high-quality, lump crab meat with virtually no filler. The seasoning was spot-on, letting the freshness of the crab shine through. If you visit 48 wine bar and kitchen, do yourself a massive favor and order it. In short, this wine bar delivers on all fronts: superb food, lovely ambiance, excellent, knowledgeable service, and truly great hosts. We will absolutely be back! Highly recommended!”

“We were excited to try 48 Wine Bar during our time in Kiawah, and the evening started off well. The staff provided a great overview of the wine selection, which set a strong first impression. However, things quickly went downhill. Ordering took longer than expected, though the crab cakes and shrimp and grits were solid and gave us hope. Unfortunately, the entrées were a major letdown. The Bolognese 48 was essentially a pool of oil with no resemblance to a traditional bolognese or marinara. The swordfish came out cold and was missing the coconut broth entirely, and the grouper was also served cold. We rarely send food back unless it’s absolutely necessary. When you’re on vacation and paying for what’s positioned as a higher-end dining experience, basic execution like properly prepared and plated dishes shouldn’t be an issue. Overall, a very disappointing experience given the expectations and price point.”
