il Focolare Pizzeria

“Finally made it to Il Focolare. Watching the chef make and cook each pie in the wood fired oven was almost like dinner and a show. Was slightly disappointed the buffalo chicken listed on the website wasnt available however it did say it was a seasonal specialty so I was prepared for the chance it wasn't on the menu still. Ordered the spicy double pepperoni which was very good. I would have preferred a little more cook on the bottom and center but I'm not sure how easy that is to achieve without burning the edges as two slices were black on the crust but not enough to detract from the flavor. We also ordered the kale and spicy pepper specialty which was more sweet than spicy and lacked a little something for me, crushed red pepper maybe? The wife enjoyed it but did wish it was more spicy. Kids ordered two basic pepperoni and one actually came out as a white with pepperoni added which was an amazing combination that I had never thought about mashing up so definitely recommend trying this if you can't make up your mind between the two pies. They were out of sodas and only had Pellegrino's but being a Sunday evening I am sure this isn't a regular occurrence. The dough and sauces are very well made and have amazing flavor overall. Definitely recommend making a visit to this great pizzeria.”

“The chop salad here surprised me in the best way. Super fresh, tons of flavor, and the Parmesan + pepperoni combo hits harder than you’d think. The house oil and vinegar dressing tastes like they actually make it in the back (because they do), and the green olives are firm and not mushy. Only upgrade I’d suggest: chop up their garlic bread and use it as croutons. That would take it over the top. The pizza is also made completely from scratch — dough included — and they build it right in front of you before sliding it into a firewood grill. Great flavor, great texture, kind of a mix between New York style and a European‑style crust. An absolute PLUS, they include gratuity in all prices. No tip recommended.”

“Great pizza + Great Service! This was my first time here. I had the chopped pepperoni & basil pizza and added garlic. Soooo good & I will be back! I received amazing service from Bean. She was also training two new employees. I noticed it was one of the trainees’ birthdays because the staff brought out a birthday cake and card to celebrate their new employee. So sweet to witness restaurants truly caring about their employees and celebrating them. There’s a message on their menus that says they don’t accept tips because they pay their employees livable wages. The staff’s display of kindness and community to the new employee gives me confidence their message is both true and inspiring.”

“I had an amazing meal at Il Focolare. Bean was my server and did an amazing job recommending a pizza that was half potato and rosemary and the other half that was broccoli and goat cheese. I caved and also got the garlic bread as an appetizer and was pleased with the fresh garlic on it. It's a small restaurant and even smaller parking lot, which makes it intimate but also tough for parking.”

“First of all, this place is AMAZING! We had the seasonal Brussels and Chèvre pizza, and then saw something being delivered to another table- please order the olives. They melt in your mouth and the marinade is perfect for dipping garlic bread or your crust into! Savannah (I didn’t ask for the correct spelling) was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us pick what to try as newcomers. We even got to meet the famous Bean from reviews, and is also wonderful. I didn’t take photos until the plates were empty. They do not take tips- because they are pod a living wage! But if they did- they would have gotten more than a 20% easily. And bonus, because I loved the olives so much, they gave me a container of more olives. I have a photo that I will add to this later. MUST TRY!!!”
