“First, I want to acknowledge my waitress, Claire. She was amazing; her hospitality was definitely the highlight. I’ll be back just based on her service alone. She was attentive and kind—give my girl a raise; she deserves it. The food was great, different from what I’m used to, and I’m glad I tried it. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The broccolini with that tomato-based sauce is superb, and the fries were fresh and crunchy. The lamb shoulder was something I wasn’t used to, but it was really good, and I’m happy I tried it. I recommend this place, and I will be back.”
“The food, service, environment, and everything in between was perfect. We celebrated my birthday dinner here and took advantage of happy hour alongside the normal dining menu. Everything was amazing! Highly recommend and we will most definitely be back. The carrot salad, crab risotto, focaccia bread, tres leche (YUM!), & cauliflower were an 11/10.”
“Great restaurant in downtown Detroit. Our table of four wasn’t very hungry, but we got four small plates and a dessert and they were amazing! Gyros, lamb shank hummus, and cauliflower were really flavorful and unique. Highly recommend those three and we got the tres leches cake to top it! Beautiful.”
“We so enjoyed our experience at Besa. The atmosphere is modern, but warm and cozy, and the food and drinks were fantastic from start to finish. Our server Claire made wonderful recommendations, was attentive and kind and really helped make the evening great. The iberico secreto and Mille Feuille were highlights! The care and intention that has gone into the menu is evident, and we will definitely be revisiting Besa for more evenings out.”
“We went here on a Tuesday night and it was very low-key and not busy at all, which made for a relaxed evening. The service was great from start to finish. We began at the bar for happy hour drinks and appetizers (happy hour is bar-only). The drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. The appetizers were okay — the lamb meatballs were a hit, but the fries weren’t very crispy and some items tasted like they may have been reheated rather than made fresh. We then moved to a table for dinner. The bread and oil were delicious. For our mains, the fish was excellent and the cabbage wedge was also very good. The half chicken, however, felt like it may not have been made to order. I rated the atmosphere 4 stars because a homeless individual was allowed inside and approached us at the bar asking for money (No judgement to the homeless guy, I'm just being transparent) The staff handled it kindly and professionally by offering him water and asking him to leave. We appreciated their compassion, it wasn’t quite the experience we expected at a fine dining restaurant — especially since we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. Overall, great service and some standout dishes, with a few areas that could be improved.”
