“From the moment we walked in, the ambience was so nice. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the owner and she served us herself until we were seated! The great interactions never came to an end. The staff was personable and super helpful with the menu. Every single course was delicious. It was an experience. The aguachile negro, tetelas, lamb shank, tres leches - 10/10!!! There were 0 complaints and every plate was wiped clean. The tortillas, chips, and salsas were super fresh and obviously made in house, 10/10! There’s no place like this in metro Detroit, we will be back again.”

“I discovered Vecino while browsing Google Maps. It wasn't initially recommended, but I believe it should be one of Detroit's top places to visit. The ambiance of the place is truly exceptional—definitely distinctive and well-designed. It's not your typical Mexican restaurant, but offers a genuinely unique experience. The menu is thoughtfully curated with authentic options that make choosing difficult or tempt you to order everything. I focused on the masa dishes since they promote all their masa products as authentic, and I was not disappointed. As someone familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine, I can confidently say that the flavors in their dishes nearly bring you back to Mexico City. Shout out to their extensive mezcal selection and beautifully crafted drinks. Also, kudos to their incredible staff, which elevates the overall experience.”

“Vecino Mexican restaurant in Midtown Detroit is a beautiful spot. The decor is honestly stunning it really reminded me of somewhere I would’ve seen in Polanco or Mexico City. It has that upscale, thoughtfully designed vibe that makes the whole experience feel special. The fish was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The tostada was nicely done and well seasoned with great balance. I also tried the hibiscus agua fresca, which was super refreshing, and the blood orange agua fresca was excellent you can really taste a good amount of ginger in it, which gave it a nice kick. For dessert, the tres leches cake with coconut was very good. The toasted coconut added depth and texture that made it stand out. Overall, the food was very good. It does take a little time for everything to come out, but it’s definitely worth the wait. I would absolutely go back.”

“Couldn't say anything bad about this place even if I wanted to. From the vibes to the food, simple amazing. Ordered the octopus as an appetizer, the steak and fish with beans. Everything cooked perfectly. I'm definitely ordering the fish again. And the paloma was a delicious drink. I recommend making a reservation because I made a reservation right when they opened. By the time I left, it was packed. But I'm definitely going back.”

“My second time coming here and it was just as spectacular as the first! I had to order all the same things as the first time because they were thaaaat delicious and memorable and they lived up to my expectations againnnnn (duck enchiladas, pumpkin seed dip, snapper, salsas, homemade chips and tortillas just so good). The drinks are fantastic as well. Vibes are cozy upscale. The service is friendly and informative. This might very well be my new fav spot in Detroit. Very well done all around!”
