Gocciolina is an Italian restaurant in the North Durham neighborhood of Durham.
“Favorite restaurant in Durham. They make the best Italian food with the freshest ingredients. The staff are super caring and friendly. I always look forward to an evening here.”
“This summer I visited 15 states on vacation. This place is the best I've seen in my trip. The food is delicious. The interior is unique, I wanted to look at every corner - paintings, statuettes, various interior items like in a museum. Everything is very impressive. Unfortunately, the photos cannot convey how warm and friendly the atmosphere is here. When guests leave, they hug the waiters, it's so touching. I will remember this restaurant and at the first opportunity, I will definitely come here again. ❤️”
“We came here for the first time last night, had a reservation and were seated quickly. We felt we had to wait an extremely long time for the food to come out and the portions were really small. Overall the food was good, but not sure if we would come back again.”
“We’ve been exploring restaurants around the Durham area and were excited to try this authentic Italian spot. Overall, the food tastes good and the service is excellent. They even ask about dietary restrictions and allergies when you book a table, and they do their best to accommodate requests whenever possible. One thing to note: don’t come too hungry. The sides aren’t really meant for sharing, and the portions are more in line with European standards, which may feel small compared to typical American servings. We ordered the fish, and as someone who’s a bit particular about how fish is cooked, this dish didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It was dry on the outside and slightly pink inside—not my preferred texture, as I usually like it tender throughout. The highlight, however, was the dessert. Most options are gluten-free (except for the cannoli), and they’re absolutely delicious. The gelato, in particular, was a standout!”
“We had a party of 7 and a reservation (one person didn't eat). We were seated on time, but clearly there was a problem in the kitchen. The first meal was brought out, and about 15 minutes later more meals came out. There was no explanation for the delays. The last meal came out half an hour after the first. The poached sheepshead fish wasn't properly cooked (one end was not cooked through) and the dish didn't taste very good. The fava beans were very salty. The pasta dish another person had only had about 3 T of sauce. The torte was like a shortbread, but tough, dry and tasteless. Overall, a very mediocre dinner not worth the price. Also, I didn't notice the $3 charge on the bill for butter until I got home. I won't be back.”
