The Katherine is a New American restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale.
“The Katherine is a charming little spot serving some of the most flavor-packed food you’ll find anywhere. From the first bite to the last, everything impressed us. We started with the tuna crispy rice after seeing several recommendations and reading great reviews. It absolutely lived up to the hype. The tuna was soft, fresh, and full of flavor, the microgreens were the perfect topper, and the crispy rice squares were a delicious base for the whole dish. Next was the fried pork belly with Thai peanut sauce. I’ve had plenty of peanut sauces before, but this one was next level—silky smooth, not overly thick, and incredibly flavorful. A standout dish. Had my wife told me not to, I would have licked the bowl! We also had the whipped ricotta with roasted tomatoes. Do yourself a favor and order extra bread, because you’re going to want every bit of it. The ricotta, tomatoes, and balsamic drizzle worked beautifully together. Best of all, it wasn’t overly heavy or filling. My wife ordered the short rib orecchiette. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich and smooth with deep beef flavor, and the short rib was fall-apart tender. An outstanding dish. I had the White Label Grilled Hanger Steak Frites. The steak was thick, extremely tender, cooked perfectly, and packed with flavor. Exactly what you hope for when ordering steak. My son had the Thai Red Curry Branzino. Je said it was delicious. The flavors paired well, and the green papaya salad was fresh and crunchy. The entire meal was fantastic, the staff was excellent, and the overall experience was top-notch. We will absolutely be back.”
“The atmosphere at The Katherine in Fort Lauderdale is so pleasant and welcoming. The food is absolutely full of flavor and beautifully prepared. From the host to the busboys, the service was exceptional. Ricky was an amazing waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!”
“One word to describe this establishment: Innovative. From the darkened lighting, to the soundproof windows, and the forest green napkins and brass touched fixtures my sister and I came to The Kathrine last night, and did not disappoint. Private free parking, outdoor seating underneath a protective awning. No host stand ( I love their choices of efficiency) and the most knowledgeable friendly staff you would want to spend the evening with. The menu was short and sweet, but chuck full of flavors no one has thought to bring together. Warm cabbage salad with chunks of pork, or the Hokkaido Crudo scallops with the most delicious sauce that makes you want to compliment the kitchen. Then came the Branzino and we also ordered the Clam chowder soup fries (my sister's favorite dish). Spicy margarita and the Chai Espresso martini were on point. Desert was the French Toast served with vanilla ice cream. The highest compliments to The Kathrine for the choice of soundtrack and service. The food was so good, we took dishes to our parents, in which my mother cried out "10s across the board". We ordered steak au poivre with fries, and she swallowed it. We got our father the Branzino, which he will have this evening. Run, don't walk to the Kathrine. My sister and I rate this place, two fancy plates. Congrats Chef Timon, for a place well done. Update: 11/18/25 Set a reservation for three and a revised plan for set review. Consistency is key and beware of times before closing as they staff seemed overwhelmed and tired at 9:00 pm.”
“We went for our anniversary and made sure the restaurant knew we were celebrating. Not only were we seated late, but when we got settled we were then asked to move to a small two top so they could sit people at the bar at the table we were at. We ordered a number of dishes and so the table was ridiculously crowded. A friend of ours, who recommended the place, also called ahead to have a bottle of champagne brought to our table. They forgot this, even though she paid for it in advance, but it seems they completely forgot our anniversary entirely. I want to love this place, the food is actually pretty good, but it’s seems the restaurant is resting on its prior reputation instead of trying to make every dining experience special. For a regular, though pricey, weekend dinner maybe, for somewhere special or to celebrate- skip this place.”
“Not worth the hype. I was really excited to try this spot because I seen good reviews but unfortunately many of the dishes were over seasoned (salty) or dishes weren’t cooked like rice & risotto. I feel like the clam chowder fries was a cool concept but hard to eat and not flavorful, there was a drop of sauce on the burger (we had to ask for the sauce you see in the photo), duck risotto was over reduced and not cooked I sent it back but the waitress didn’t seem to care she just took it off the bill. We couldn’t eat the short rib pasta because it was so salty but I felt embarrassed to send that back as well because the waitress seemed annoyed. Needless to say we won’t back. I tried to post this review on let’s eat south Florida but to my surprise it wasn’t approved. I’m thinking some kind of paid sponsorship there because the guy in charge of the group always talks about how great this place is which is why we tried it.”
