NORIGAMI first started as a bi-monthly pop-up at Hidden Omakase. Head Chef Jimmy Kieu mixes fresh ingredients with signature flavors from the dry aged fish that are well known among the HIDDEN GROUP. The establishment is designed to recreate the ambiance found in urban Tokyo. NORIGAMI features a speakeasy-style bar and an intimate dining area that seats 24 guest at a time.
“Stopped by Norigami on Sunday for an early dinner and was promptly greeted by the hostess. We ordered most of the hand rolls from their happy hour menu and all of them were delicious. The only picture I managed to snap of the hand rolls was the Tomato hand roll, which was one of my favorites. Very flavorful, a good amount of umami and perfect balance of textures (highly recommended). The chefs (Vu, Michael and Alan) were all very friendly and helpful with questions we had around menu items and their personal recommendations. The wait staff were attentive and made sure to promptly keep our dining area / plates cleaned. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and will be coming back next time to try some of the other menu options”
“Stopped by Noragami for a quick happy hour bite and honestlyyyy so good and it wasn’t too busy. Jennifer took care of us and was super friendly the whole time. The hand rolls were fresh, flavorful, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. The blue fin and hamachi hand rolls were definitely my favorites. Simple, fresh, and perfect if you’re craving sushi without feeling too heavy after. Definitely one of those spots I’ll be thinking about randomly later.”
“I absolutely loved this sushi place! The nigiri slices are noticeably thicker than most spots, which makes such a big difference in texture and flavor. I especially appreciated the fun little cuts they make in the fish — it’s a nice touch that really elevates each piece. Happy hour here is fantastic and a great value. The egg and steak tartare was one of the highlights of the night — super flavorful and perfectly executed. Definitely coming back soon. Highly recommend!”
“I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time now and finally got to go on a Friday evening before a concert. There are so many handroll places in Houston now that the competition is fierce. Compared to others like Handies and even NoriNori in Chinatown, this was my least favorite. Flavors were very average though prices are fair. My least favorite were the sake and blue crab handrolls. Sake had a strange taste to it and the blue crab had the texture of mushy tuna salad. I did enjoy the bluefin and hamachi and the hotate was mg favorite. Staff were a bit casual with lots of messing around behind the bar for a place priced at this point. Atmosphere feels like a batcave and a bit grungy. With so many better sushi places in the area, this wouldn’t be my first choice.”
“The service was awesome and spot on! The decor and ambiance were super cute — definitely a great date night spot. As for the sushi, it was a bit hit or miss for me. The salmon tasted a little too fishy, and the hamachi hand roll fell short since I could barely taste the hamachi. However, the kanpachi was the standout of the night! It was buttery, flavorful, and easily the best fish I had there. The pricing was fair overall, and despite a few misses, the atmosphere and service made for a nice experience.”
