Umi Sake House is a unique Japanese cuisine restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle featuring the highest quality seafood available in the Northwest, a large izakaya-style tapas menu, and boasting a sake list of over 60 imported Japanese bottles. The interior is multi-faceted, with a black slate tiled traditional dining room, a gorgeous 14 person capacity wooden sushi bar, a semi private "tatami" room which holds 12 people, a larger 25 person private dining room, an enclosed "back patio" casual dining room complete with tropical garden, a black concrete liquor bar with custom sake cocktails and fusion traditional cocktails. The variety of atmospheres allows for a different experience with every visit, and the vastness and quality of the menu does the same. For the budding sake enthusiast or the seasoned veteran, the sake menu at Umi is bottle for bottle the best found anywhere outside of Japan!
“The absolute best sushi I have ever had. Super fresh. Great flavors. Great combinations. A variety of offerings, many of which are spicy. My wife doesn't like spicy so they accommodated her request for different sauces. Drinks were also very good.”
“Tried Umi Sake House 🍣✨ and honestly I really liked the interior design and atmosphere of the place 🌿🤎 It feels modern, cozy, and stylish at the same time. The quality of the food was really good 👏 Everything tasted fresh, and one of my favorite parts was definitely their seaweed salad 🌱🤤 so flavorful and refreshing. The only downside for me was how close the tables were to each other 😅 The space between tables was so little that you could easily hear other people’s conversations, which made it feel a bit less private. But overall, still a really nice spot for sushi and Japanese food 🍱✨”
“Really enjoyed it here- good food, a nice atmosphere, lots of veggie options, and a good happy hour menu! We tried the spicy tomato tofu (vegetarian), veggie roll (vegetarian), crunchy Seattle roll, and salmon skin roll. All of those dishes were $10 or under on the happy hour menu. (I ranked it as spending $10-20 per person because that’s what we did, but we ate pretty conservatively and happy hour helped with that.) The salmon skin roll was a little salty, but everything else was great. I’d love to come back for the late night happy hour sometime.”
“I honestly really liked most plates! We came for HH. It’s comparative to Momiji in terms of aesthetic and easy to walk in. The HH menu/ Apps are small. So don’t expect to be super full. The short ribs were delicious and the salmon don was fresh! I thought the spicy tuna and spicy salmon were fine. But the Seattle roll was great! (Although I think it’ was missing the cream cheese). It’s definitley pricey for speciality rolls but the HH hour rolls did the job just fine.”
“Amazing and hip decor. Service was good but the food wasn’t up to standard. We came for happy hour. Imagine roll was soggy. Spider roll didn’t contain soft shell crab but instead something that resembled a chicken finger. Overall a disappointing visit.”
