Swoon Kitchenbar is a Contemporary American restaurant in the Hudson neighborhood of Hudson.
“Enjoyed our dinner at Swoon, a longstanding Hudson NY establishment. Service was friendly and attentive. Crispy artichokes were fantastic and bread plate hit all the right notes. Short ribs were pretty good, had some central american spices with nice bright vegetable garnish. Partner had the risotto which was fine, nothing too special. Desserts were great, highlight was a pumpkin flavored pudding. Proved why it has remained in business for all these years!”
“Terrific farm to table restaurant. Loved the fried artichokes, hanger steak, and rack of lamb. Very generous portions. Limited, but decent quality, wines by glass. Lots of quality half bottle options. Local beers. Service friendly and efficient. All in all, a memorable meal without breaking the bank.”
“Great atmosphere. Bar and dining area were fun. Staff were fantastic despite obviously being very short handed. The food was well plated and beautiful. Salmon and Hake were cooked well. Seems like a popular place.”
“Stopped into Swoon while driving thru the Catskills, as I'd heard it's been around awhile. Staff couldn't be nicer, and the service is super quick. The food is very good, but not exceptional: I dug the kale salad and the fried artichokes are tasty, but nothing particularly special. Linguini with clams was advertised as homemade pasta, but tasted more like dried / packaged to me? Clams were very high quality, though, and super well prepared. Ambiance was also nice, but still just lacking something that kept it from being too warm or inviting. Overall, a very nice place, but nothing especially memorable here.”
“The experience at Swoon was ok but a bit disappointing for my first time there. First the positives: The food was very good. I had a pasta dish with fennel sausage and my boyfriend had the lamb with polenta. We finished off with an espresso and a chocolate torte. All were excellent. Not so good was the very aloof bordering on inhospitable greeting by the hostess. She was not rude, just not welcoming. When we arrived for our reservation we were given a choice between 2 terrible tables with plenty of better open seating in the restaurant that remained open throughout our meal. The tables looked into some sort of staging area that had no curtain or door to hide it from the customers and the cushioning on the benches was uncomfortable. When I asked the waitress about this she said I should have just asked for a different table. (And I might have with a friendlier more accessible hostess.) Overall, it could have been a great dining experience but my pleasure in the food was muted by the so-so customer service and uncomfortable seating arrangement. Side note: Their sister restaurant has great food and amazing customer service. I was hoping that Swoon would emulate that experience but maybe it was just a bad night and we can try again.”
