Sushi Tama will manifest as both a kaisendon and a la carte sushi. As a native of Japan, Chef Hideyuki Yoshimoto honed his craft at Tokyo’s iconic Tsukiji Fish Market, the largest fish market in the world. There he studied and learned from some of Japan’s most experienced chefs, cultivating an eye for quality, while managing a restaurant catered to both locals and tourists from around the globe. Chef Yoshi prides himself in serving only the best and freshest ingredients and is eager to share his culture and experience with the Los Angeles Community.
“Food was good. Fish were fresh and sweet. Mostly traditionally style sushi. The quality is nothing to complain about all high end and quality fish. If you're more into fusion style this might not be for you.”
“Had to return to this place after trying them for lunch last year. I liked it then so went back for one of the omakase time slots. I had high expectations and they lived up to it and then some. Every course was different, interesting, and either flavorful or delicate. There were no bad courses and so many great ones. The yuzu, the char, the fatty tuna melting in your mouth. Even the rice seemed like they put butter on individual kernels. The chef is talented and watching the knife work was better than any Food Network show. I can't even remember the names of all the fish we had. Tuna, of course, a few times. And then others I'd heard of or had before but these all felt new when paired with the little sauces or toppings. Several times I was like, ok, give my 12 more of those. Glad I didn't because they didn't skimp of the courses. Nice little touch with the birthday treat at the end too. Here's a few photos but I missed many courses because we were just enjoying the moment and not trying to document. Overall, this stands toe-to-toe with a few sushi experiences I had when I lived in Seattle. Top 3 for sure. Go here with confidence. Expensive but not outrageous compared to other LA options. 100% worth it.”
“We had an incredible omakase experience at Sushi Tama with the head chef, and it truly blew us away. From the moment it started, it felt like so much more than just a meal. It was a full experience. Every course was thoughtful, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. For the first time outside of Japan, we felt that familiar combination of precision, respect for ingredients, and deep attention to detail that makes omakase so special. The flavors, textures, and pacing of the meal reminded us of memorable experiences we have had in Japan, which is not easy to find. You can really feel the passion and craftsmanship behind every bite, and the interaction with the head chef made the evening even more special. If you are looking for an authentic omakase experience that goes beyond great sushi and into something truly memorable, Sushi Tama is a must.”
“Located across The Henry on Robertson, this intimate sushi spot was the perfect destination for our bookclub dinner night. We ordered everything our server recommended and by the end were so full! Food, ambiance and customer service was 5/5. Special shoutout to our server Naoko who not only went above and beyond with recommendations but great mannerisms when our table time limit was coming up and she even helped our friend with the baby stroller down the steps. Lastly their dessert ice cream sandwich was so unique I would recommend everyone try that. Cheers!”
“If you’re in Beverly Hills and love sushi, Sushi Tama is an absolute must. My son went all in with the omakase experience and it was perfection from start to finish each piece felt like a small work of art, balanced and memorable. You could taste the chef’s care in every bite. I ordered off the menu and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Everything they prepared was not only beautifully presented but also melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It’s rare to find a place where the service, creativity and quality all line up perfectly. From the atmosphere to the attentive staff to the food itself, Sushi Tama exceeded every expectation. Whether you’re sitting down for omakase or just exploring beyond the menu, this spot delivers a truly special experience. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!”
