The Golden Bull

“I have lived in Santa Monica Canyon for over four decades and have been enjoying the "re-make" of the Golden Bull during and following the pandemic. The Golden Bull is the last of the iconic restaurants of Santa Monica Canyon with a multiple decades-long history. I hope it continues to serve our little community indefinitely. Since constructing the patio in the old parking lot, a brilliant move!, I along with my family and friends have relished consuming many of your second-to-none fried onion rings, french fries, and fried calamari on our way to ordering our main dishes. I have NEVER been disappointed with anything I have ever ordered, nor have my family or friends ever been anything but satisfied. That in and of itself, is the mark of a quality establishment. The service of the waiters and waitresses are commensurate with the quality of the food. Personal service, friendly, attentive, delightful, each and everyone of them from the waiters to the busboys. I am familiar with several of the waiters on a first name basis, Kaitlin, Dan, Alegria to name a few. Your new GM Jessica is wonderful as well and will be a promising addition. We enjoyed meeting her today. I am writing this to offer my sincere appreciation to you as owners for maintaining such a treasure in our beloved Santa Monica Canyon. Looking forward to more of the same! Thank you!”

“Went with my mum on our last night in LA and we were given a booth in the restaurant. Nice vibe in there, super friendly and very accommodating staff. We ordered the steak frites and garden linguine. Both were delicious. Their martinis are fantastic we got both vodka and gin martinis. Perfect space for all occasions and would recommend to friends to go here for dinner.”

“Came to celebrate my wife's 27th birthday and everything was just great. Inside was nicely decorated. We got seated right next to the fire place. which was great because it was cold and windy outside. The food was delicious and wonderfully plated. Wifey enjoyed her margaritas with her steak frites and I could definitely go for another bowl of the tomato soup with an order of a baked potato. The service was outstanding and just a great experience overall. I highly recommend this restaurant and MAKE A RESERVATION!!! AND MICHAEL KEATON SHOWED UP LAST MINUTE AND WAS SEATED RIGHT NEXT TO US. WAS TRYING SO HARD NOT TO GEEK! (No I was not going to bother the man for a picture he was having dinner)”

“This is a review for their Happy Hour or "Golden Hour" which is Monday-Friday, 4:00pm - 5:30pm and for a few items from their regular menu. You have the option to sit indoors our outdoors. We chose indoors, which is lovely and cozy with white tablecloths, flowers at each table, and fireplace. The Caesar Salad for $5 was so good, I almost wanted to order another one! I loved the Loaded Potato Skins ( $5) !!! The Calamari was a solid Good ( $10) . My friend ordered a beef Taco( $4) and it was disappointing. He won't order it again. My husband ordered from the regular menu and he loved his Flat Iron Steak with a side of asparagus . We all shared the Smores Casserole ( $14) dessert! I highly recommend sharing this! It comes with warmed up graham crackers! Parking is a bit difficult, but we found parking on the side streets.”

“Delicious food, efficient and prompt wait staff, lots of heaters outdoors, reasonably quick food. Prices are up there but the food was great. One server just plonked the food down and parking was challenging and a little bit of a walk .. but I didn't feel like paying 15 bucks to have them park it.”
