“We had a great dining experience at Azucar. The Empanadillas are made fresh in-house, turnovers with thin, soft dough stuffed with braised shredded beef. The shrimp in Gambas al Ajillo were perfectly cooked, fresh and snappy, with plenty of sauce for dipping the toasted points. The bartender (Paige) made delicious Devil’s Margarita and Sangria and was knowledgeable and passionate about the tapas options - her recommendations were on point and did not disappoint. Can’t wait to go again soon!!”

“My husband and I moved to Maynard in 2023. We were looking for a cute place in town to get a cocktail and came across Azucar and we have been repeat customers ever since. One of the reasons for that is Rico. Rico jokes that he “loves love,” but he truly makes every drink, attends to each table, hosts, even cooks, with so much love, care, and compassion. He has also become an incredible friend, and while we are sad he’s no longer here (he’s not dead, he went home to Mexico), he will always hold a special place in our hearts. We also know that we will remain in good hands as all the staff (little shoutout to Esteban, Matthew, and everyone else), who are amazing and treat you like you are family. If you are looking for a warm and welcoming place to go with a great vibe, go to Azucar.”

“I really want to like this place because it's such a unique spot and a great addition to downtown Maynard. We've been here a handful of times over the years. Different days. Different staff. Busy. Not busy. Service has been consistently and unacceptably slow at every visit. Last night we came in just for drinks at the bar, shortly before the dinner rush started to clear out. We were only able to order a single drink each in 90 minutes. We observed a single bartender with no barback supporting the entire restaurant and possibly waiting on the front lounge area. On several occasions, the lone bartender left the bar area for extended periods, particularly for espresso shots to make coffee-based drinks on the menu, or to restock bottles. These additional out-of-room tasks distract staff and ultimately delay service. We did not order food, but others that did seemed to receive it quickly, so I think the problem is primarily the bar service. Management either needs to hire additional staff or talk to their current employees about what slows them down.”

“The absolute worst experience ever. I made a reservation for 5, well in advance and when we arrived they tried to sit us literally with the band. They said that was the only seating available. We were the first people to arrive. The restaurant was empty. We asked to be moved and were told that it was not possible. This was suppose to be my Mother’s Day dinner with my family. After we pleaded with them they stuck us in a room with no dining table and expected that we would eat our meal on our laps!!! And they were not the least bit accommodating. We left and will never dine there again. Stay away from this restaurant. I’m not sure they deserve to be called a restaurant”
