“Sometimes what's old becomes new again. We ate here quite a while ago, but a colleague reminded me about this lovely restaurant. We had a great meal. First, the cocktails are excellent. The cocktail menu is broken down by flavor profile. I chose a French Kiss from the tart category. It is made with gin, lime, ginger, aperol, and bubbly. It was a great cocktail! My husband's cocktail was also great. Their bartenders know what they are doing! I heartily recommend you get at least two teasers per person. We shared the shroomin, which was a yummy mushroom custard topped with delicately fried enoki mushrooms. This is sensational. We also had the East Side Pride, which was a meaty slab of crispy pork belly topped with a fruity mixture that perfectly offset the salty pork belly. Next time we will each get our own! Also fantastic were the small plates. I wish we had gotten 2 for each of us. The yellowfin tuna tostada was great, the fish fresh and the flavors complex. I loved the steamed pork buns, topped with a fruit salsa and peanuts. We both ended up getting the smash burgers. They were great, as were the fries. However, in retrospect, I would have preferred several small plates. The small plate food is just more interesting. What this does mean, however, is that you can go there for dinner and get something yummy, complex, and unusual, and your kids can happily eat an excellent hamburger and fries! They have a small but interesting dessert selection. I opted for the berries and cream panna cotta. It was really yummy! This place was super busy, so I recommend reservations. However, you can often get same-day reservations. One cannot always plan one month in advance! There are many things to love about this restaurant. I love their cocktails. The food is super interesting, tasty, and creative, but there are also great choices for pickier eaters. It is super easy to park. I find this a huge plus. It was fun to rediscover this great restaurant! I highly recommend it!”
“We had such a fun night at Tongue in Cheek. The service was outstanding and the menu and food were unique, artfully prepared and delicious. The vegetarians in our group were delighted with the veg options on the menu that clearly were not an afterthought but equally curated and presented.”
“This was the very first restaurant me and my fiancé ever ate at together, and we have been back sooooo many times. The unique dishes they have on the menu are so addicting and the restaurant has such amazing art and decor, it’s fun to just go and look around. Never had a bad time coming here.”
“Best brunch I’ve had in a long time. Every dish felt intentional and genuinely delicious, and the brunch deal is unbeatable for what you get. It’s rare to find a spot where everything clicks — the food, the staff, the price. Tongue in Cheek actually cares, and it shows. Already planning my next visit. (Enjoyed myself too much and only took two pictures while there. Great sign 😂)”
“We had been wanting to try this place for years but somehow never got around to it until now. Maybe our expectations were too high? We are very adventurous eaters, travel a lot, and love big flavors. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice, but the wall art seemed sloppy and amateur. I get it, it's supposed to be silly and wacky to match the theme of the restaurant, but it just didn't appeal to us. Our drinks were good, but nothing to write home about. We had the tiger prawn teaser, which tasted like a regular fried shrimp with no standout flavors. The "just shroomin" custard had a great flavor but was more of a mush/goop, and I understand it can't be a real custard because it's vegan, but the texture was unappealing. The pork buns were good, but again, nothing standout or unique. The best dish by far was the market fish. Cooked to a perfect, blackened crust and with a delicious sauce. I could have used 3x the sauce. The potatoes that came with it were also good, but I would have preferred a different veg side that would, IMO, pair better with the fish. Overall we really liked it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice dinner date.”
