“Great little gem behind the New Haven Apple store! The appetizers are amazing, the portions are generous and you will definetly bring home a to go box, I had the pani puri, masala dosa, the chai, Kingfisher and Mango kulfi for dessert. Really great value for the $$.”

“Sherkaan is such a fun surprise right off Broadway in New Haven, tucked behind the Apple Store near the Yale Bookstore. The space feels young and energetic, more Indian street food hangout than formal dining, which fits their whole “modern Indian” vibe perfectly.  We ordered a spread and basically loved every category. The pani puri were crisp and bright, with that perfect hit of spicy mint water that wakes up your palate, and the pav bhaji was rich, buttery comfort with soft toasted buns that the kids kept reaching for. The butter chicken was exactly what you want it to be, silky and deeply flavored without feeling heavy, and the dum biryani had beautifully fragrant rice and tender pieces of chicken, the kind of dish you keep going back to for “just one more bite.”  The kale Caesar with salmon was a nice surprise, a smart, Indian-leaning twist with crispy chickpeas and spices that made it way more interesting than a standard salad. The paneer dish was creamy and satisfying, and the lamb dosa was one of my favorites, with that thin crisp exterior and all the flavor tucked inside. We finished things off with a soothing chai and a thick, fruity mango lassi, which was the perfect way to cool everything down and end the meal. Overall, Sherkaan nails that mix of playful street food and serious flavor, and it is absolutely worth a visit if you are anywhere near Yale.”

“It was a perfect spring day in New Haven, Connecticut. The wind was slightly a breeze and a little bird fluttered in the bush next to us. We ordered the hot chicken sandwiches with simply means it's heated up not spicy hot at all as a matter of fact it had a little bit of a sweet bouquet. I do believe that a little bit of hot chili sauce or raw chili for the crunch & spice would have done it better. There were some pickled onion but very little if there was twice as much that would have made a large difference and I would have given this sandwich a rating of a 100. It was satisfying and a decent - sizable piece of chicken fried chicken on a brioche bun and therefore the rating of five. We also had the garlic naan and cucumber salad which were both delicious. The salad was refreshing. I had a rose hip type hot cup of tea and my wife had a refreshingly crisp virgin cocktail.”

“Ambience of this place is fantastic, great decor, hangings and wall paintings. Beverage menu is a highlight and refreshing. Unfortunately the food didn’t live up to the surroundings. Few of the dishes lacked authentic Indian punch. Our butter chicken was under whelming and flavorless. Shrimp we tried is delicious. There are few hits and more misses. If you are looking for a stylish spot for drinks and gags give a shot but the kitchen needs to dial up a bit and be more consistent.”

“We have come here often. Really great vibe. Excellent service. Very interesting food choices. Unfortunately food quality is unpredictable. We have had delicious fresh food, and other times not so much. Our okra fries were burnt and bitter. Chai was lukewarm. I would recommend this place for the vibe and eclectic menu. Definitely try if you want to test your luck when you’re feeling lucky.”
