BOUCHERIE – a step deeper into taking more appreciation for the foods and personalities that make the south a culinary destination – is Chef Nathanial Zimet, David Zimet and staff, and was born out of everything that led Nathanial to the purple truck: an education in Great Britain and Australia at Le Cordon Bleu; the restaurant industries of New Orleans, North Carolina and abroad – and all that was learned while feeding the streets of this city. Our cuisine reflects our passions and our purpose – which is fine dining for the people. We smoke, cure, age and prepare all our meats in house – and as do most fine establishments of this city – we purchase from local agriculture and seafood purveyors when available. Through these small understandings Boucherie embraces the traditions of its namesake, as well as the food that inspired it.
“We had the absolute pleasure of working with Boucherie for both nights of our wedding weekend, and they exceeded every expectation. On Friday, we hosted a welcome party at their uptown restaurant with a completely different style than our wedding reception. We asked for a casual, fun “Cajun pig roast” theme, and they absolutely delivered—complete with a full pig, a ranch tower, and a pickle platter that our guests couldn’t stop talking about. The atmosphere and food were exactly what we envisioned: relaxed, festive, and delicious. The backyard patio was a perfect event space...quiet, a stage, easy the maneuver, etc. They worked with us on allowing extra bathrooms to be stationed in their driveway. The frozen gin and tonic was a huge hit. For Saturday’s reception at the Marigny Opera House, they seamlessly shifted gears and created a more upscale Cajun dining experience. Every dish was a crowd-pleaser—from the shrimp and grits to the brisket—and the passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour were truly phenomenal. They struck the perfect balance of elevated and authentic New Orleans. Beyond the food, their teamwork and professionalism really stood out. Sara and Angie collaborated effortlessly with our other vendors, including our cheese caterer and bartending team, to create a smooth and cohesive experience from start to finish. Throughout the entire planning process, their communication was excellent. They were responsive, detail-oriented, and made sure no question went unanswered. We felt confident from start to finish. We’re so grateful to the Boucherie team and we couldn’t recommend them more highly.”
“We went for our anniversary in late March, I can't rave enough about this restaurant. The servers were absolutely amazing, treated us like family friends and made our anniversary extremely special. There was one small group being a little loud, but the servers were apologetic even though they had nothing to do with it. The service took great care of us, we never ran out of drinks, made great suggestions for food and drinks. The food was amazing. Everything cooked you perfection, everything was hot fresh and delicious. I had the beef Wellington and it was to die for. We've suggested this restaurant to everyone we spoke to after that evening. This is definitely a gem in the hiding in New Orleans. We will definitely be going back!!”
“We had a wonderful evening at Boucherie- we cannot say enough great things. The atmosphere is beautiful (we sat outside in the patio, so homey!). All of our meals were delicious, our server was so sweet and attentive. We were not rushed at all, which was so nice. We were celebrating two anniversaries and they so thoughtfully brought an entire bottle of champagne out for us! After our meal, our server recommended a bar around the corner for us to hang out, which was also fun (cannot remember the name of it). The only tiny negative is that the drinks were on the small side. Otherwise, perfection all around and absolutely worth a visit!”
“Full disclosure, I'm a sucker for a great seasonal (fall) tasting menu. I recently visited this neighborhood gem to try their new tasting menu, and was blown away. The staff were warm and hospitable, and the space was cozy and close to home. If you live in the neighborhood you've got to check it out, and it's worth skipping across town if you don't. If you are a wine person, the wine pairings are going to to knock your socks off. Adventurous and funky, while expertly matched to each dish, you are going to try things you've never tried before. The sherry that was paired with the creme brulee deconstructed jelly donut was a lot of fun. The dishes were beautiful and delicious. I think the red snapper over an ajo blanco with black garlic was a stand-out best bite. Creamy, smoky, and complex with the black garlic, I keep thinking back to it. I also really enjoyed the crab cake with pickled crab and caviar creme fraiche. Dessert just didn't miss... all three rounds were total knockouts. Yes, three! :) Do yourself a favor and check it out yourself!”
“My recent meal at Boucherie was absolutely spectacular! From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance, our server, Tony, was a true professional, offering excellent recommendations. This is a place where the attention to detail truly shines—every dish was not just delicious but also a work of art. It's a must-visit for a special occasion or anytime you want an unforgettable dining experience.”
