Atlas Kitchen is a contemporary Chinese restaurant subdued elegance in a muted color scheme, marble tabletops and a mural of mountains and towers done by the artist Qiu Anxiong in the style of traditional Chinese watercolors. Though the menu menu includes some popular items, like soup dumplings and pot sticks, it also offers a feast for those with uninhibited tastes for robust seasoning and offal.
“The food is excellent. Well seasoned and perfect. The service is incredible.. this is a family owned and ran Restaurant and definitely deserves the support of the community and is definitely worth going to again and again because the food is excellent. The service is excellent.”
“Great dining experience at this creative Chinese restaurant near Columbia University! The location is very convenient, only about a 3-minute walk from the subway. The interior is simple yet elegant, with marble tables and tasteful Chinese-style decor. We ordered several dishes and were impressed by all of them. The red date chicken rice noodle soup was rich and comforting, the pork rib and lotus root pot was very flavorful and came in a generous portion (perfect for sharing), and the crispy shrimp was a standout crunchy, fresh, and well-seasoned. We also tried the garlic vermicelli clams, which were delicious, though the portion was quite large for our group. Don’t miss the dessert, the mahjong-shaped yogurt ice cream was refreshing, light, and a fun touch to end the meal! Overall, great quality with no disappointments. Around $35 per person, which is very reasonable for the area. Would definitely come back!”
“One of those lunches where nothing misses 🥢 We went to Atlas Kitchen nyc a Michelin-recommended contemporary Chinese spot, and everything was so good. The kind of meal where you’re passing plates back and forth like “wait you have to try this.” The shrimp was perfectly crispy, the sauces were rich but not heavy, and even the simple things like the rice just hit. It felt elevated but still comforting, not trying too hard, just really well done food. What we had: General Tso's Chicken Xiangxi Stir-Fried Beef Crispy Shrimp w. Glutious Rice Crust General Tso's Prawn Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork White Rice”
“The Purple Clay Pot Rib & Lotus Root Soup is a must-order—it’s rare to find such authentic "powdery" (粉) lotus root in NYC! Our only regret was not ordering two individual portions since the large pot was sold out. The Chicken Soup Rice Noodles was also a standout—clean, flavorful broth with no MSG taste. Great wok hei on the Stir-fried Pork with Chili, though the Chicken Gizzards were a bit too small and overcooked for my liking.”
“Great experience overall! The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was really nice. If you enjoy spicy food, this is definitely a place worth trying. Highly recommend!”
