“I challenged myself to find a new place out of my comfort zone and ended up at Cafe Henri. The restaurant is in a quiet area that is easy to get to. I loved the intimate feel of the restaurant. I got the French onion soup as my starter it was piping hot and not too heavy. As my main I got the steak au poivre which could easily be split by two people as the portion was generous. My steak was made to a perfect medium rare and the potato au gratin side was creamy and crisp. For dessert I got the croissant pudding which was heavenly, not too dense or too sweet. My favorite part of my evening was seeing people wander in to enjoy the comforting ambiance as the service was gentle and not rushed which made me feel like I was in France and not NY as we are used to getting a rushed check brought to the table after the last bite. Hats off to the staff!”
“Could this be one of the best food spots in LIC? Perhaps. Nice and lowkey on the corner of Vernon Blvd there’s Cafe Henri: where the servers attend to your wants and needs with efficiency, the food is always delish and honestly speaking extremely affordable*. I took my mother out for brunch and got myself the Henri Burger (cooked medium well) and my mother got the Le Pain Perdu…(the best French toast on the Blvd). The burger was juicy, the bun it came with amazing and not soggy! The French Toast was very-very-slightly crunchy and so buttery and soft. 10/10 flavors, textured and presentation. Shoutout to their 6$ beer too can’t go wrong with that.”
“Treasure restaurant, delicious food, steak is my favorite. A good place to have dinner and chat with friends. By the way, there is a jazz band playing here at night.”
“The place is a nice restaurant overall, with beautiful decoration and a great atmosphere. The waitresses were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. However, I found the food to be quite average, especially considering the price. The portions are not very generous, and many dishes are fairly simple (sandwiches, crêpes, pasta, etc.), which made the quantity-to-price ratio a bit disappointing. We ordered an onion soup, a quiche Lorraine with a side salad, and the “merguez with strong mustard” sandwich, also with salad. For dessert, we had a crème brûlée (which was very good) and a sugar crêpe that was a bit dry. Overall, it’s a nice place for the ambiance and service, but I expected a bit more from the food.”
“Visited today after a 12-mile run and had a disappointing experience. I ordered the Henri Burger cooked medium-well, but it arrived medium-rare. The portion size was also noticeably small for the price point. Unfortunately, the best thing about the order was the salad. While I appreciate what the restaurant is going for, the execution didn't quite land for me. Service felt rushed and impersonal—our server offered minimal interaction, which left me wanting more engagement. Overall, the experience didn't meet expectations, but I'd be open to giving it another shot if they tighten up the quality and service consistency.”
