“Food was beyond great, went on Valentine’s Day, had the grass fed strip, collard greens, beef tartare and the cheesecake - all were superb and the service was fast. Never had to ask the waitress to refill my wine glass, she kept it flowing. We will be returning for sure.”
“Overall this restaurant is a 10/10! The food was out of this world - it was a special 2 week menu! The standout of the night was our waiter Luis! He was very knowledgable of the menu, kept the drinks flowing and was very attentive - he truly made our first experience here 10/10! We will definitely be back!”
“Super cute French spot in east village. The gem salad was great (vinaigrette dressing was very flavorful). The steak au poivre portion was tiny but it was tasty; side of frites were average, nothing extraordinary. Staff was very kind and hospitable; excellent music; we didn’t try any of the drinks but next time I guess. Very sceney and artsy place — I loved it !!”
“Ella Funt is a delight! Cool vibe from the moment you walk in — excellent mood lighting and beautiful art across the walls. A lot of it is a bit risque, but I loved it. And the bathroom on the left is painted entirely in gold, which is so funny and so fitting. Cocktails are spot on. The Lower Manhattan is a solid non-ABV choice, and the Lemon Martini does the trick if you're in the mood for a gin martini — strong but not too hard. Wine by the glass is well-priced for NYC. Food-wise, it was good but not great. We had the tuna crudo, steak tartare, tomato salad, trout with celery root puree, and the steak au poivre. The tuna crudo was a great start, but the meal kind of plateaued from there. The steak au poivre was just too saucy and peppery — I like au poivre, but this was too much. Overall a decent experience with good value, coming in under $100 per person with tip. Just don't come primarily for the food.”
“Not a great experience. Ella Funt has a great atmosphere but not much more than that. We had a reservation for two and tried the place for the first time. Some reviews said that the cocktails are great and the food isn’t but we still wanted to try it ourselves. First, we asked about the martini flights option and realized these are all pre mixed cocktails. For a place considered a cocktail bar, it shouldn’t serve premixed drinks and definitely not martinis, which are overall a fundamental cocktail that every bartender should know how to make well from scratch. Second, we asked for a basic dirty gin martini instead. We got a martini that tasted like quarter gin, 3 quarters vermouth, super dry, not even a hint of olive brine. It was just unprofessional for a place that aims to serve cocktails in NYC. Third, the food was actually the better part of our experience. The burger was definitely the best part, overpriced but great overall. The steak was also good just very small. Should have expected it though because the steak price is actually cheap. Overall, if you’re looking for good music and vibe go here. If you’re looking for a good NYC cocktail experience stay away.”
