“Highball was a wonderful place to visit, day and night. We stayed at the hotel, so we actually frequented this spot more than once. Our first night we ate dinner here. It was absolutely delicious. I had the steak and it was wonderful! We shared a cheesecake for dessert. We came here for breakfast, which was really good. I will say, if you are in a crunch for time and it's busy, consider going somewhere else. They get really swamped in the morning. Keep your receipt. If there's any mistakes they are gracious and kind and will fix it. Great service! Our last night in NYC, we came back for a nightcap and dessert one last time. We had our server, Sagar, again. He was so kind and attentive. This was the perfect way to end our trip. Definitely consider stopping here for a meal, or at least drinks. Thank you Highball staff and chefs, for starting and ending our trip the right way!”
“I stayed at Tempo by Hilton and ended up eating at Highball a few times. My overall experience was mixed. The standout item for me was the Halloumi Bowl. It’s one of the better vegetarian options on the menu, tastes fresh, and has a decent portion size. That said, like most things here, it’s priced higher than I think it should be. What surprised me the most was the coffee pricing. I paid almost $15 for a matcha espresso latte. The drink itself was good, but not significantly better than what you’d get at a local coffee shop for $5 or $6. For lunch and dinner, the menu is fairly limited, so don’t expect a lot of variety. The food quality is decent and the service is good, but the automatic 22% gratuity on dinner checks makes the overall cost feel even steeper. As a hotel restaurant, Highball gets the job done. The food is good, the Halloumi Bowl is worth trying, and the service is reliable. I just wish there were more menu options and pricing that felt a little more reasonable for what you’re getting.”
“The over priced food was okay not worth the price. The service was very lacking. They don't need to provide good service since they already add a 22% gratuity to your bill. The only reason we will return would be to use up our Hilton diamond credit if we keep our upcoming reservation at the Tempo.”
“We were staying at Tempo, so we decided to try the restaurant. I really wish we hadn't. The food is lackluster, the table was dirty, and they gave themselves a 22% gratuity for a table of 2 with no notice. The food was good, nothing exceptional, but decent - the kind of food you can get from any given national chain, just smaller portions for a much higher price. We enjoyed our spinach artichoke dip although it was low on the pita, and we ended up with more dip than bread. We both had the salmon, and the fish was well cooked. It came with a small amount of vegetables that were a bit overcooked, and a large fried rice puff that had zero flavor and was a oily. We ordered a draft beer and got a can instead, but we did get to pay for the draft size, which was disappointing. The worst part was getting the bill and seeing they had added a 22% gratuity. I planned on tipping (the service was decent, and the waiter wiped down the table after we pointed out that it had crumbs and food residue on it), but that tip should be our choice, or should at least be clearly stated on the menu. The restaurant was nicely decorated, but the couches were covered in crumbs and the table we were at and the one next to us had obviously not been even wiped down. Definitely not worth the price.”
“The restaurant is very pretty. The location is great , it’s right in Time Square. The menu is very poor though: only 4 dishes for entree: salmon, chicken, burger and steak. We ordered steak and burger. They were good. Tuna tartar was good as well. Portions are not big. Price wise - the entrees are )30-35. What annoyed me big time is that the gratuity was already included in the bill. Why????? Nowhere it said on the menu that the gratuity would be included .. So just be aware of that. I believe it’s about 22%.. since when is it customary to charge you tips right away? And the amount they want?”
