One of the classiest operations around, this Gramercy Park “go-to for brunch and late nights” has “that real Paris bistro feel, from the “bustling” atmosphere to “satisfying” French classics. L'EXPRESS IS A LYONNAISE BOUCHON SERVING UP CLASSIC BISTRO DISHES SUCH AS MUSSELS, STEAK, AND ESCARGOT.
“Great service and food! I have been meaning to try this place and so glad I did and will be coming back! They have great outdoor seating and drinks options and the staff is super nice and patient with my 1 million questions. We tried the goat cheese and the artichoke appetizer plus the chicken sandwich and the crème brûlée for dessert If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend! It was nice that there was plenty of outdoor seating plus plenty of shade Michelle and Torris took care of us and we felt super comfortable to take our time and they really made the experience what is was!”
“My experience at L’Express was delightful! Not only was the service excellent, but the restaurant's atmosphere was exactly what you’d hope for—vibrant yet warm and cozy. The dishes were prepared with incredible flavor and perfectly balanced textures—absolutely delicious!”
“I dined alone and was warmly greeted by Thor. He showed me to my table and immediately took my cocktail order. My waitress arrived promptly with my drink order. She then took my meal order, which arrived promptly. The braided lamb shank was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the portions were huge! The dessert was fabulous! I enjoyed a great solo dining experience! I highly recommend L'Express!”
“Good place on park ave next to union square. L’express offers French cuisine dishes with a touch of general Mediterranean dishes. The food is overall good and offers a decent value for money. However, the steak in the steak frites was a bit chewy and we were charged extra for the au poivre which is a bit weird. The au poivre sauce was a bit watery also. The Niçoise salad was very nice and the tuna was of high quality. We got crème brûlée for dessert which was pretty good. At other times I took their burger which is recommended. They have a homemade lamb burger that has a strong flavor and they recommend eating it with goat cheese. I’m not sure about the goat cheese it didn’t go that well together in my opinion. Overall good experience and good value for money relatively to a French restaurant in New York City.”
“I was highly upset with my recent experience at L’express, and so was my stomach. I stopped in after working a long 6 hour shift so I can take some food home. The female bartender looked like she was engaged in a long conversation with a guest seated at the bar when I arrived. There were only 5 people at the bar including myself. They were laughing and seemed to be enjoying each other while i waited for 10 minutes to get an acknowledgment. I didn’t get a water, or an option, if I wanted something to drink. Just 2 menus set in front of me. Already annoyed, I asked for a MEDIUM burger with fries to go and the check in the same breath. I didn’t realize until I got home that it was completely raw in the middle. This is a serious food safety issue and really disappointing, especially since I specifically ordered it ready to eat. I understand mistakes happen, but serving undercooked meat without warning is unacceptable. Not only is it putting my health in jeopardy, it is a direct violation with the Department of health. Hopefully the restaurant pays more attention to quality control and food temperatures moving forward. My stomach was not the same that night. I definitely won’t be back.”
