Our Fourth newly location renovated space features an elegant private dining area, complete with a sleek sushi bar offering an omakase tasting journey, led under the direction of executive chef and owner Leo Lin Aka Rio, リオ Among the pioneers behind the neighborhood’s sushi revolution, Omakase 33 owner and Chef, Leo Lin, is no stranger to the world of Japanese cuisine. In 2015, he spent 3 months in Japan building contacts to source the most popular, season fish for the American palette. Although he visits his overseas colleagues quite regularly, his grand ambitions remain here, in the United States. A strong team of chefs and servers—all veterans of the omakase realm— have also been handpicked by Rio, himself. Together, with these powerful connections and expertise, the team is excited to serve you a spectacular meal in the beautiful New York City.
“We did the $88 dollar dinner with 13 courses of nigiri and everything was perfect. The appetizer was served in this bowl with a lid on it and smoke inside which really added to the flavor of the dish. Truly unique. All the sushi was delicious except for the sea urchin which I personally don’t like. Also, the aged miso soup had such a strong, unique flavor, I’ve never had any miso soup like it before. The brown sugar ice cream for desert had a subtle flavor that was a perfect way to finish off the meal. Also, despite the small portions of food, I was surprisingly full after the meal.”
“The omakase was tasty, though not especially extravagant. That said, everything was well-prepared, and the ice cream was absolutely delicious! The service was attentive and the overall vibe was great, which made for an enjoyable experience.”
“Omakase 33 in New York is an absolute gem and, honestly, one of the best value omakase experiences I’ve come across. Their $48 lunch omakase feels almost unreal for what you get: two beautifully prepared appetizers, eight perfectly executed nigiri, a hand roll, and a comforting aged miso soup - all thoughtfully paced and genuinely delicious. Every bite felt intentional, fresh, and balanced, proving that great sushi doesn’t have to come with an eye-watering price tag. The chef was warm and approachable, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. The space itself is calm and intimate; while it wasn’t busy when I visited, I’d still recommend booking ahead because this is the kind of place people will (and should) talk about. Simple, honest, and exceptionally good - this is one of those rare spots you want to keep to yourself, but can’t help recommending with your whole heart.”
“Walking in there the smell reminded me of an authentic Japanese restaurant. The staff was great and very attentive but the food was even better. Each dish tasted great and the donburi appetizer was one of my favorites.”
“This place is such a hidden gem. I’ve been here twice and both times I was completely blown away by the quality of the food. As a seasoned sushi lover who had been to some of the best Michelin 3-star spots in Tokyo, I think this place is truly in the top tier in NYC in terms of the ingredients used, the curation, and the unbeatable $88 price for an omakase. I recommend this place to everyone.”
