Paquita is a tiny tea shop in the West Village with +/- 100 varieties of loose-leaf tea that line the walls in copper canisters. Salvaged wood detail, custom shelving and an ornamental tin ceiling add to the ambiance of this intimate space. Founded in 2021, the shop is owned and operated by fellow neighbor along with other West Village establishments such as Ad Hoc, Rosecrans and WEST10WEST; Paquita is named after her late grandmother who she grew up with. Aside from a large assortment of organic loose-leaf teas and botanicals, the shop also serves espresso based coffee drinks, matcha tea and lattes, assorted pastries and a newly launched tea service with petite sandwiches and a house baby wedge salad.
“Had a lovely morning tea at Paquita! The space is quaint and fields a little bit like a Victorian time capsule. The tea is priced extremely fairly and it seems like so much pair has been put into every utensil and cup. I had a pot of the mint chai, with a side of milk and honey, and it was delicious! I also had a slice of the Matcha loaf, which was a highlight. Highly recommend for a casual, but thoughtful the experience— feels like you’ve happened upon a little gem.”
“This is place is such a gem! The tea selection is thoughtfully curated and incredibly fresh, and you can really tell how much care goes into everything they offer. The space itself is cozy and well-appointed, with a calm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it a perfect place to slow down and enjoy a cup of tea. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to make recommendations. A truly lovely tea experience. I would highly recommend to anyone!”
“Paquita is a wonderful tea house that offers an immensely fascinating collection of teas. We tried the Genmaicha and Pouchong tea to go. They also have a few sweet and savory items that they want you to purchase if you want to be seated during lunchtime. The seating is limited to 3-4 seats and it can feel a bit cramped. The selection of teapots and related accessories for sale are also elegant and great! Worth a visit for sure.”
“I stopped by this tea house a while ago with a friend and had a great experience. The tea was really good, though definitely on the pricier side. The food was amazing, and the people working were very kind and patient explaining everything to us. The aesthetic of the place is also beautiful, and I love that it almost doubles as a small ceramic shop with tea sets on display. Overall, a really charming spot if you don’t mind spending a bit more.”
“$24 for a small pot of tea! I was so disappointed. I was informed that the tea I selected was $12 but I could mix the teas, if I wanted. The server did not explain that mixing teas would be double the price. I felt cheated and icky after enjoying what was up to that point a lovely experience. Man, why do businesses have to be so greedy. $40 for what's pictured. Never again.”
