PYLOS honors the breadth of traditional Greek cuisine by bringing fresh, wholesome cooking from all regions of Greece to an elegant, contemporary and comfortable setting in the East Village. Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art. “A really cute place and great food! Our server recommended us a few dishes and they were all fantastic. We also got 2 bottles of wine and they were also both great. The server made the experience delightful and the decoration of the place added to the experience. i suggest you try the dips, the octopus, the dolma, the lamp shank and the pistachio lavraki. We will be back.”
“Pylos is a small restaurant which you may miss walking by. However, inside it is pretty long and has a lot of tables. They also have a bar that is big enough to sit a few people for dinner. This is where we sat at the bar because we didn’t have reservations and didn’t want to wait. It was perfectly fine to eat here. The staff was really nice, just not as attentive, kept having to ask for water etc and get their attention to ask for the dessert menu. The food though, so amazing! I highly recommend. The place is also very nicely decorated with the ceiling lined with clay pots. I wish I would have taken more videos. Definitely a cute date spot. We had the octopus, shrimp and scallops pasta, the mezzo trio, and napoleon for dessert.”
“Great food and great service. Nice selection of Greek wines too. Went for restaurant week and the food was really tasty with large portions. Would definitely go back!”
“Greek Cuisine That Will Steal Your Heart ❤️ Stepping into this Greek establishment in NYC wasn't just a meal; it was an absolute revelation... hands down, one of the best Mediterranean dining experiences I've ever had in the city. Every element, from the first bite to the moment I left, was pure gold. The baked feta wrapped in crisp black sesame and served with a side of sweet marmalade was stunningly complex and a perfect balance of salty, savory, and sweet that you’ll dream about later. The dolmades (or tolma) in their bright, rich lemon sauce are a must-try. They left me desperately in love with them 😁 and instantly planning my next visit. Even the simple things shine, like the old Greek salad, served in a truly huge portion, it’s refreshing, authentic, and amazing. Beyond the fantastic plates, the experience is enhanced by the generous spirit of the house. The wine pours are legendary and truly, a "glass" is more than a glass in volume! Most importantly, the service is excellent. Host Tamara is fabulous, greeting guests with warmth, and the entire staff makes you feel like family. If you’re looking for fantastic food, generous drinks, and impeccable hospitality, go go go. I will absolutely be back soon!”
“Food was incredible server was incredible, just a bit pricier than average Mediterranean/greek food! Tables were also very close to one another, so very intimate seating and dining experience. The meatballs were incredibly juicy and flavorful, the blend of meats was perfect! The spicy feta presentation was unlike I had ever seen, you had to cut into the pepper to get the feta; made me a bit confused as to, should I eat this on pita? Or is it to be eaten alone? Overall, it was incredibly tasty and whether I ate it with Peter or solo, I would definitely order it again. Unfortunately, only stopped in for apps in a drink, but the rest of the menu was very expensive and atypical Greek would be well worth a return visit.”
