Samwoojung, a bulgogi speciality restaurant, opened its initial location in Seoul in 1963. Marinated in artisanal soy sauce and Korean bamboo salt, the bulgogi at Samwoojung has been made the same way for the past 60 years, following a family recipe that epitomizes the Seoul style of bulgogi. The Seoul style is one of the three distinct methods of bulgogi preparation, and is characterized by its flavorful soup-like sauce sitting in a dome-shaped copper vessel. Samwoojung has been a home for diners craving Seoul style bulgogi since 1963. HAND Hospitality is proud to bring Samwoojung and its classic dish to NYC.
“Outstanding Korean restaurant! Their tripe soup was beyond amazing! Best seafood pancake as well! All of the dishes were delicious! Highly recommended! Make sure you make reservations! Can get quite busy easily!”
“Glad to have stumble upon this place before leaving NYC as for my last dinner with friends. We basically locked into our order knowing to get their well known bulgogi for the medium size portion and shared it among the 4 of us. There was still quite a lot left but this is a must when you are here since they will give you plenty of protein, eggs and veggies plus noodles. We also got the kimchi cold noodles and the octopus kimchi pancake to pair it with. And something soupy was the tripe soup to wash it all down. We realize that everyone that sat down at 7 has been with us till like 8:30 or so. So it’s such a great place to sit and catchup. Attentive servers too and will be coming back here for sure!”
“I came here for dinner with a group of friends and we loved it! The interior of the restaurant is cozy, and I would recommend a reservation if you are going on a weekend. Service here is really quick, attentive, and polite. My friends and I ordered their raw marinated crab and shrimp, their seafood pancake, their bulgogi hotpot, and their bossam. Everything was delicious. The raw foods were high-quality, well-marinated, and was paired with roe rice. The seafood pancake was crispy and generous with their seafood portions. Their bulgogi hotpot was comforting, and perfect for the cold weather. And, their bossam was clean, light, and amazing in a wrap. Great spot for some cozy vibes and warm Korean food!”
“Food 4/5 Service 3.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 This spot is known for its Bulgogi (4.25/5), and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It's one of my favorites in the city because it's not overly sweet like most places, making it much more enjoyable. Squid Kimchi Pancake (4.5/5): This was my personal favorite. The kimchi was incredibly flavorful and the pancake was perfectly thin. The con was that it was a bit small and there could have more of a "crisp" Limited time Spicy Pork Rib (4/5): Very meaty. Most pieces were tender, though a few were on the drier side. Tripe Soup (4/5): A bit bland for the broth but very hearty and comforting. Abalone over Rice (2/5): This was the only major miss. While the abalone itself was good, the rice had a very "fishy" taste that was overwhelming. Icy Persimmon (4/5): A refreshing treat! I really enjoyed the frozen texture of the persimmon. It's a solid, light dessert, though it didn't feel particularly unique Multi-grain Ice Cream (4.5/5): This was a highlight! The toasted, nutty flavor of the multi-grain was delicious, and I loved the chewy mochi pairing. It added the perfect texture to every bite. A dependable spot for classic Korean comfort food. I'd definitely come back for the bulgogi, pancake and desserts”
“The food has actually improved since they first opened. Portions are on the smaller side but we ordered 600g of bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, dumplings, and a dessert, which felt like a good amount for two ppl. I wish they offered a wider dessert selection. The bulgogi is very traditional Korean style comforting, not overly sweet or salty. It’s a nice spot to satisfy a bulgogi craving”
