Zen Sushi Omakase is located on a quiet Lower East Side street. We are serving a 14 Course Omakase set for $89, a steal. We are a unique and affordable sushi restaurant that specializes in seasonal ingredients and high-quality fishes mainly from Japan’s Toyosu Market, Fukuoka fish market, and also around the world. Our chefs have more than 15 years of experience and have worked a lot of top sushi restaurants in the city such as Sushi Nakazawa (A Michelin Star ⭐️) and Nobu, etc. You will expect to have a fun and memorable dining experience!
“Just finished eating and already planning my second visit 🤤 Had to recommend this place to everyone! 💰89 for 14 courses is honestly such a steal. Left feeling ridiculously satisfied. ✨Loved that the chef personally introduced the fresh ingredients of the day before we started. The menu changes seasonally too — apparently it’s almost the end of octopus season, so definitely get it while you can! 🍣The course lineup was stacked: scallop, wagyu, uni, caviar, foie gras… literally all the good stuff. And the hand rolls at the end completely stole the show — we ordered two extra. 🔥Wagyu + scallop + uni An insane combination. One bite almost didn’t fit in my mouth 😂 🔥Unagi + foie gras Lightly torched on top, rich and buttery in the best way possible. 🧑🍳The chef also made the whole experience so fun and welcoming. He explained every dish and patiently answered all our sake questions even though we didn’t end up drinking because of work the next day. Amazing food and amazing hospitality”
“Had such a great experience at Zen Sushi Omakase. The entire 14-course omakase was paced perfectly, and you can really tell the chef adjusts the timing based on each table, which made the experience feel relaxed and thoughtful instead of rushed. The progression of the meal was super well balanced. It started with lighter white fish like flounder and sea bream, then gradually moved into richer cuts like striped jack, isaki, and salmon before going full luxury mode with uni, caviar, wagyu, foie gras, otoro, and black truffle. One of the most memorable bites was their layered wagyu + scallop + foie gras piece. Every layer added something different — rich wagyu fat, sweet scallop, then the creamy foie gras at the end. Definitely one of those “wow” bites you keep thinking about after dinner. The wagyu toast with monkfish liver and caviar was also incredible. Crispy toast soaked with wagyu fat, creamy ankimo spread, and salty caviar on top created such a rich but balanced bite. It felt like a really fun NYC-style fusion omakase moment. Another highlight was the lightly torched otoro with black truffle. The tuna completely melted in my mouth and the truffle aroma slowly opened up as you ate it. I also loved the miso cod and caviar rice bowl at the end. The cod was buttery and smoky from the grill, the caviar added a perfect salty umami flavor, and the vinegared rice balanced everything surprisingly well. The uni on the side was super sweet and fresh with zero fishiness. What really made the experience stand out was the atmosphere. The chef explained the fish and preparation throughout the meal, and the whole dinner felt interactive and fun rather than overly formal or intimidating like some traditional omakase spots. For the price, this is honestly one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in NYC. Definitely a hidden gem in LES and somewhere I would happily come back to.”
“I had one of the best omakase experiences recently at Zen. I went on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was quiet, which ended up making the experience even more special. It felt very personal and intimate, almost like a one-on-one session with the chef, which I really appreciated. From the start, the service was extremely attentive. The staff at the front were consistently checking in—refilling water and making sure everything was taken care of without ever being intrusive. The pacing and attentiveness made the whole meal feel very well managed. The highlight, however, was definitely the chef. He was not only highly skilled but also very friendly and easy to talk to. As the meal progressed, we naturally started chatting—about fish preferences, where I’m from, and even other omakase spots I’ve been to. It was interesting that he even knew some of the chefs I mentioned, which led to a fun conversation about how connected that culinary circle can be. He also took the time to customize small details based on our conversation, like adding extra uni to one of the pieces after I mentioned I enjoy it, which really stood out. On the food side, everything was extremely fresh and well executed. The scallop was sweet and clean, and the fish overall had a very fresh, delicate texture. One of the highlights was a special item I ordered—the “Power Tower,” which was a layered seaweed roll topped with multiple elements including uni, scallop, fatty tuna, and soy-based seasoning. The flavors were incredibly well balanced and layered without anything overpowering the rest. It was rich, complex, and very satisfying. Overall, between the quality of the fish, the thoughtful execution, and especially the engaging interaction with the chef, this was an outstanding omakase experience. I would definitely come back again.”
“What an amazing deal for such high-quality omakase! You will get 14 dishes for just $89. It’s a well-balanced menu with 2 appetizers, 10 delicious nigiri, one super sushi from chef and a handroll. All fish is shipped from Japan and it was incredibly fresh. One fish isaki I have never tried before, it’s a premium white fish - absolute perfection. Great sake list to choose from at affordable price as well. I also got a surprise bday gift from chef! Very nice touch. Highly recommend to check out this amazing place!”
“Overall experience was pretty good! For the price of their omakase, I didn’t expect too much but it was still pretty decent. Fish was fresh and the rice was warm and seasoned just right. However, all the fish sort of all tasted the same, like same flavor and texture. We came on one of the colder nights so it was pretty quiet with just us there. I would recommend!”
