Verve Restaurant is a French restaurant in the Somerville neighborhood of Somerville.
“Wow. I’m not sure how to even describe how much i love verve & all their lovely staff. From Lay to Dylan to Veronica to Kamila & Zoe, they are all incredibly amazing. No other place makes my friends & I as comfortable as this place & the bartenders/barbacks/servers. I had the most amazing Hendrix Negroni & a cocktail called Gone with the Gin. These cocktails & staff today cured my depression & I will live another day!”
“To start off- wait staff was terrific, they were ON IT with taking orders, bringing dishes out and making sure our waters were always filled! I had the duck entree with mushroom risotto and it was to DIE for. Their mocktails and cocktails were pretty impressive as well. I will say the octopus appetizer was a little overcooked and the gnocchi appetizer was lacking some salt. I think my biggest issue was after the free first loaf of bread for the table- they charge an extra $7.50 per additional loaf. (Pretty crazy if you ask me). The restaurant itself had a very cozy, intimate vibe. Overall- we enjoyed our experience, I would go back but maybe try some of the other appetizers and see where they fall but avoid the above mentioned ones and definitely get the duck again.”
“This French restaurant is pretty charming. I came here with my father and sister to have a father daughter dinner. We came for dinner around 7:30pm and got a table for 3. We were seated quickly despite there being a nice crowd in the restaurant. The bar area was packed with patrons so this restaurant is definitely popular. For starters we got the pork belly confit and Korean duck buns. Both appetizers were delicious. When eating the pork belly confit make sure to eat it with the Crispy Scallion Pancake, Apple Relish, Maple Creme Fraiche because it helped with cutting out the pork belly fat taste and it tastes great together. But if I had to choose between the two appetizers definitely get the Korean duck buns they were so good. For my entree I got the Tom Yum Noodle Bowl and I will admit it was not my favorite and I still had a big portion leftover. My sister got the special which was a lamb with pasta and after having a little taste of it I wish I got that instead. My dad got the crispy chicken breast and he threw down. His plate was clean so that should tell you something right there. I say definitely check this restaurant out. It gives intimate so it is honestly the perfect spot for a cute date night.”
“Cozy, relaxing atmosphere inside this two-level restaurant that blends Manhattan vibes with small-town charm. The food lived up to the hype - our favorites were the pork belly appetizer, NY steak, lobster pasta, and soup. We also enjoyed the charcuterie board, which offered a nice selection. Although the staff was polite, the service was notably slow, with long waits between courses. Overall, it's a bit pricey, but the amazing food makes it worth it.”
“Good: creme brulee, lobster bisque* Ok: miso salmon, gratin potatoes, duck Asterisk because I enjoyed it but it was not at all what I was expecting. The lobster bisque was more tomato bisque with some lobster in it rather than lobster bisque. It was enjoyable once I stopped being disappointed that it wasn't what I expected from lobster bisque. The flavor on the duck was nice but I found it to be somewhat gristly and required a lot of chewing with the indigestible "meat bubblegum" texture left at the end. The salmon was cooked a little under with the center still having the raw fish texture (rather than just lightly translucent) and the fried rice they served with it had an incredibly greasy texture like the pan/oil wasn't hot enough and it all got absorbed into the rice. The gratin potatoes were not as flavorful as I expected and very heavy. The creme brulee was also lightly flavored though you could see the speckles from the vanilla bean which was nice. Overall it wasn't a bad meal, but for the price I definitely expected better. As a side note (not part of the rating) you can hear the conversations from every table which can make it an unpleasant experience.”
