“An absolute gem of a French restaurant. The food is delicious from start to finish — beautifully prepared, comforting, and full of flavour without feeling pretentious. The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate, making it the kind of place where you immediately want to settle in for the evening. The wine selection is excellent. What truly made the dinner special was the warm, personal service from the chef and partner, who created such a welcoming and genuine dining experience. A lovely spot for a long dinner with good conversation and great wine.”

“This typically French restaurant is a hidden gem in Victoria. It is on the ground floor of an office building on Cook Street, away from Cook Street Village, further towards Pandora. We have now been there three times. The food is phenomenal! Really! My wife spent a few years living in Paris, and we have beento France four or five times in the past 40 years. The menu reflects French technique and ingredients. The service is always friendly and fairly fast. It is surprising that the restaurant is not busier than it has been when we have died there. Better for us! Hopefully, the husband and wife team can stay afloat! They deserve to. They also run the Joie Café, also at this end of Cook St. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone we l ow is going to Victoria.”

“VICTORIA!! Why are you sleeping on this place?! My husband and I have had multiple trips to Victoria in recent years and have had the pleasure of checking out many of the top-rated restaurants (and having so many lovely experiences). But THIS… this was second to none. Every aspect of every morsel was incredible. The kindness and knowledge of the staff was superb, and the food was unparalleled. I’ll dream about it for weeks. It was an absolute TRAVESTY that we were the only patrons in the place at 8pm on a Sunday night. I know Victoria shuts down early but it was ludicrous to have the place to ourselves. You don’t know what you’re missing. This place should be packed and require reservations months in advance. Thank you, thank you JOIE Grillades for an incredible dining experience 💕”

“Nice little French restaurant outside of the Cook Street village area. Ordered the NY strip loin and it was cook perfectly. Frites were fresh fried and well seasoned. Finished my meal with apple tart and ice cream. The salad bar was nice. The truffle oil was a nice addition and add some good flavours and aroma to your salad. Sorry forgot to take a pic.”
