Datsun is an Asian restaurant in the Centretown neighborhood of Ottawa.
“This was my first time in Ottawa and my first meal here was amazing. The bao was delicious, especially the tofu one. It is not common to see tofu as the main part of a dish, and it was very well done. I also liked the pork dumplings. The crispy layer gave them a nice texture. The Dan Dan noodles felt more like pasta to me compared to what I am used to in Asia, but they were still tasty. The squash dumplings were a bit too sweet for me, and the purée was stronger than I prefer. The cauliflower was also very good and worth ordering. The drinks were just as good. I really enjoyed the Geisha Lemonade. It was refreshing, not too sweet, and had a nice balance of sweet and sour. The Ube sundae was the perfect ending to the meal.”
“I had an amazing dining experience at Datsun in Ottawa. From start to finish, everything felt well thought out — the service was attentive, the vibe was energetic yet relaxed, and the food was outstanding. We chose to sit on the patio, which added to the charm of the evening. The menu had a great mix of flavors, and everything we ordered was fresh and beautifully presented. What really stood out for me, though, was the cocktail menu. My absolute favorite drink of the night was the Tokyo Drift — perfectly balanced, refreshing, and unique. The ambiance inside looked lively and modern, while the patio gave us a more laid-back setting. It’s the kind of spot that works just as well for a fun night out with friends as it does for a date night. Overall, Datsun is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Ottawa. Great food, a stylish atmosphere, and cocktails that impress — I’ll definitely be back soon.”
“Great happening place. Very big buzz, lots of people, great atmosphere, awesome unique cocktails. Food come out quick and hot. We tried all the Bao brisket was my favourite. Wings were spectacular. Pork dumplings with wow spicy mustard. The only miss was the Dan Dan noodles, that were way over salted”
“Got the squash dumplings, everyone suggested it. It was good, but definitely not worth the price. You go there for the experience; lights are low, music is nice. We received the food pretty fast.”
“If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Ottawa, look no further than Datsun. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an incredible meal. We kicked off our evening with margaritas, the perfect balance of citrus and tequila, refreshing and just the right amount of kick to get things started. Paired with a crisp Sapporo beer, it was the ideal combination to set the tone for the rest of the meal. As an appetizer, we tried the cucumber salad, which was a refreshing burst of flavors — light yet packed with a beautiful mix of crunch and tang. For the mains, Datsun truly shone. The tuna tartare was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with layers of flavor that left us wanting more. The shrimp wontons were a perfect bite—crispy on the outside and wonderfully juicy on the inside, complemented by the perfect dip. And don’t even get me started on the baos. Soft, pillowy buns wrapped around succulent fillings — it’s hard to describe how delicious these were, but they definitely did not disappoint. The real star, though, was the spicy sauce. It brought the perfect amount of heat without overpowering the other flavors, making every bite feel like a new discovery. And the kimchi—wow! It had the perfect balance of fermentation and spice, adding an incredible depth to our meal. Datsun truly delivers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Whether you're there for a casual bite or a night out with friends, the food and drinks are sure to leave you wanting to come back for more. Highly recommend!”
