Succotash National Harbor is a Southern restaurant in the Oxon Hill neighborhood of Oxon Hill.
“First and foremost welcoming and friendly staff. They were attentive and very kind. The restaurant definitely gives off a cool vibe. From the decor, the seating, and menu, you know you are in for an experience. We had noon reservations for 2 people . ( definitely recommend reservations) The menu was brunch when we went. We sampled some starters. The cauliflower and the deviled eggs were my favorite. For main entrees I enjoyed the French toast. It has a nice crust on the outside but soft in the inside, topped with fresh berries. My husband enjoyed the chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. ( it was spicy ) you can pick your level of heat for the chicken sandwich. This location was perfect. Right at the Harbour, beautiful to walk around before or after your visit here. Parking was easy as well, street parking or plenty of garage parking.”
“Such a great experience serving up great southern food. We were in town for a concert at MGM casino theater. Everything was cooked to perfection. My wife had the blue catfish and she raved about it. I had the ribs, very tender and great sauce. We had the cornbread and Mac n cheese sides. Both were amazing. Can’t wait to revisit the National Harbor area again.”
“So good we came back twice!! In town for a conference and found this perfect gem!! The first night, we had bacon jam deviled eggs, cornbread, and chicken & waffles for food and drinks were mint julep, basil mule, and pandan dew. Between the three drinks, pandan dew was on the fruitier side and my personal favorite that I ordered on the second night. The mint julep was bourbon forward but exactly what we expected. The mule was in between, had the bourbon prominent but also had the blend of ginger perfectly for a mule. The chicken and waffles are the MVP!!! the best friend chicken, a delicious bourbon syrup, and perfect waffles. The pickled okra was a lovely new thing for me - don’t usually like okra but I loved this!! On the second night, we had some of the same food but also tried the catfish, fried pickles, and peach cobbler and the banana pudding. Everything was delicious. But the banana pudding would be the reason I’d come back here despite a two hour drive. It’s fresh and light yet filling and decadent. Luna was our server the first night and answered all our questions and provided great suggestions!!”
“I recently visited Succotash for lunch with my mom and aunt. The customer service was excellent, and our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I made reservations for three, and everything was ready when we arrived. The ambiance was beautiful and inviting, although the restaurant was a bit dark. My mom had difficulty reading the menu and ended up using her phone’s flashlight to see it. We started with the cornbread and wings, and both were absolutely delicious. My mom ordered the burger and fries and really enjoyed her meal. My aunt and I had the shrimp and grits. They were okay, but I’ve definitely had better. One thing to note is that street parking is limited, but there is a parking garage conveniently located right around the corner from the restaurant. Overall, we had a pleasant experience thanks to the great service and atmosphere. Check out the photos and decide for yourself! 😊”
“We came to Succotash while visiting the national harbor. We did not have a reservation and were told it was a 45 minute wait. However, the host was able to accommodate us in the bar section so we did not have to wait. I ordered a dirty martini and the shrimp and grits. The entrees was very good and packed with flavor, but I expected a larger portion based on the price. We ordered the cheese burger with a side of macaroni and cheese for our son and the chicken and waffles. The chicken was very crispy and had a good taste, but expected more seasoning in the chicken. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and good presentation. Service was a little slow in the bar area. I would return and try different menu options.”
