Having spent nearly 40 years in the food industry, over 30 of which were in various restaurant capacities—from quaint mom-and-pop diners to upscale establishments and hotels—I understand the impact my reviews can have, especially as I reach 1.5 million views and reads weekly. Having lived in Pennsylvania for most of my life and spending over 25 years in Philadelphia, I often regret not discovering this restaurant sooner. Its legendary reputation is something that nearly every Philadelphian, including myself, is aware of. With that said, this place truly shines. I adore the layout. There’s a welcoming indoor dining area perfect for gatherings with family or friends, and the bar section features comfortable swivel barstools with backs. In addition, I believe there’s a delightful mix of high-top and low-top seating around the bar. I can easily envision bringing someone special here for an intimate experience. Moving from the bar to the outside, there’s charming outdoor patio seating and additional tables alongside the restaurant, as seen in the photos. This diversity in seating arrangements creates a unique experience at every turn. Now, let’s talk about the food—I’m a fan of the menu. It’s refreshingly straightforward with fantastic options. As someone who often finds vegan choices a bit challenging, I appreciate this restaurant's veggie offerings that may not be fully vegan. I opted for the beet and mushroom burger, made in-house with a blend of chickpeas, black beans, beets, and mushrooms, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, and chipotle mayo. While not entirely vegan due to the cheese and mayo, it was an easy fix for me; I simply left those off and added a bit of hot sauce and a drizzle of olive oil. The result was outstanding—rich in flavor and expertly crafted. My only suggestion would be to serve it on a crusty artisan roll, perhaps one topped with sesame seeds, to elevate the burger even more. Typically, this comes with fries, but I opted for a fresh spring mix instead, featuring diced red onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes—extremely refreshing, especially with the delightful poppyseed dressing. My friend chose a lighter fare, ordering from the bar’s specials. She enjoyed a lovely tomato soup with the option of grilled cheese, which she declined, along with crispy green bean fries served with ranch dressing. She paired it with a non-alcoholic frozen dragon fruit lemonade, which I sampled and found excellent. The green bean fries and tomato soup were both tasty as well. Overall, the menu is well-conceived, offering something for everyone without being complicated, which I appreciate. Notably, Bridget Foy endured a devastating fire in 2017 that forced them to decide between demolishing the building or renovating what they could salvage. They chose to rebuild from the ground up, and as far as I can tell, they’ve done an incredible job. This historic location is irreplaceable in Philadelphia, and the family that has owned and operated it for over half a century is truly remarkable. I must also highlight our server, Stefan (forgive me if I misspell his name). He was outstanding—attentive, on point in every way—and we were even fortunate enough to meet Bridget Foy herself. She is genuinely wonderful, and we’re lucky to have her as a representative of the best that Philadelphia has to offer.”

“No fuss, tasty new American. If that’s what you want, you’ll get it, lots of good small plates too. Writing this review specifically because Shai, our server, provided the best customer service I’ve received in this city. Big shout out Shai, I hope you’re paying her well. Kitchen closes at 9, but they’ll still serve you an affogato and drinks well after that.”

“🍽️ Had such a great experience at Bridget Foy's with my boyfriend (a Southern seafood critic, basically 😅), and we were both impressed. 🦐 He got the shrimp and grits, I had the Greek-style couscous with roasted shrimp everything was fresh, flavorful, and honestly unexpected for Philly in the best way. The seafood really stood out. 🍹 Drinks were on point, and the vibe was easy, enjoyable, and somewhere you actually want to linger. Definitely coming back to try more!”

“Brunch at Bridget Foy’s on a cold Sunday was exactly what we needed. The restaurant was already festive for Valentine’s Day, which added a sweet, cheerful vibe the moment we walked in. We soaked up the warmth while enjoying steak tacos, Nutella waffles, cheese grits, bacon, and beignets for dessert. Overall, the food was good and comforting. The waffles and beignets were tasty, though not quite as light and airy as we hoped. Still enjoyable, just a little denser than expected. The espresso martinis, however, were a standout — smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. Brunch here was a simple but special treat, made even better by sharing it with one of my favorite guys. A solid spot to escape the cold and enjoy good food, drinks, and atmosphere.”

“Bridget Foy’s is a solid spot for dinner and drinks. I stopped by recently to check out their Christmas-themed setup, which added a fun and cozy touch to the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really stood out. The food and drinks were good overall. I had the chicken parm sandwich, along with the margarita flatbread and Brussels sprouts, all of which were enjoyable. That said, it does feel a bit overpriced for what you get. Still, it’s a reliable spot with a nice atmosphere. I’d come back and would recommend it for a casual night out.”
