The Knotted Apron is a French - American restaurant in the Rosemont neighborhood of Portland.
“We had an incredible dinner at The Knotted Apron in Maine! The food was amazing, prepared and plated with great care. The bread is so light and delicious, served with a whipped butter, sprinkled with sea salt. The foies gras was so delicious and surprisingly paired with pineapple and a hint of clove. The duck was wonderfully tender, served with lentils and a celery salad. The restaurant is small and intimate where it was evident that clients and employees were all content. What a great atmosphere! I only wish we lived closer!! Sigh …..”
“This place was a total 10 out of 10. From the service to the atmosphere to the food. Our waiter Bitz Was amazing. Truly embraced us and gave us a great experience. It was our anniversary and we were greeted with a warm welcome. We will definitely be going back again as this restaurant offers a special experience. The food was unreal, perfectly prepared and extremely tasty. Portland is lucky.”
“The Knotted Apron is a hidden gem, a Franco-American bistro with a warm, cozy vibe. Our wonderful server Madigan recommended the excellent foie gras with pineapple, and we enjoyed warm, homemade bread with butter whipped with sea salt flakes. My companion chose the onion soup, also terrific, while I had a perfectly roasted chicken with baby roast potatoes sauced with just-right Hollandaise. Wednesday is wine night, with accessible prices for excellent wines. The restaurant clearly takes local seriously, with everything fresh and top-quality. For dessert, a to-die-for profiterole was filled with homemade ice cream and topped with chocolate ganache. A perfect evening.”
“The Knotted Apron delivered the kind of meal that feels effortless, though clearly a great deal of thought is behind it. My guest and I shared the country bread to start, and it immediately set the tone. It had a subtle sweetness against a beautifully salty texture, which made it far more memorable than bread service usually is, comforting and refined at once. I had the steak tartare and the tagliatelle, and both were outstanding. The tartare was clean, balanced, and quietly confident, with excellent texture and flavor. The tagliatelle was just as impressive, rich and satisfying without ever feeling heavy. Both dishes felt composed rather than overworked, which made them all the more memorable. My guest had the salad and the salmon, and those were equally well executed. Everything that came to the table felt thoughtful, polished, and deeply appealing without trying too hard. The dulce at the end was a lovely finish, understated but exactly right. The only small note is that the room was a bit robustly noisy, especially for an early reservation. Even so, the quality of the food and the assurance of the kitchen carried the experience. What stood out most was the consistency. Every dish felt considered, every flavor felt intentional, and the entire meal had a calm sense of confidence that is harder to find than it should be. The Knotted Apron is the kind of place that leaves a strong impression precisely because it does not need to announce itself.”
“My partner and I went to dinner there last night for our second time and were blown away once again. It was my partner's birthday and they really made her feel special. They made sure to wish her a happy birthday the moment we got there and remembered it all throughout. They even brought a chocolate sorbet dessert with lit candles in it. That entire staff made it magical. They really know what they're doing here. The food is absolutely delicious. The steak tartare is so good and we got it there last time as well. Everything was perfect. We are looking forward to going there again in the future. Thank you for such an amazing time.❤️”
