Wayside Tavern is an European restaurant in the West End neighborhood of Portland.
“Cozy atmosphere with great inventive food and drink. Sat at a small table which was used for walk-ins although we had a reservation at “the bar”, which I thought was interesting that they’d had reservations for the bar. I think this is their way of having some extra capacity in order to not turn people away if their tables are booked — which was good because the bar seats turned at least 3x while we were there. Great spot for a nice dinner and relaxing experience on a date or small group. Hazelnut chocolate mousse was Excellent! Tiramisu was soaked in sherry, a bit more than I’d prefer. Scallops and clams were great along with the smash burger and wedge fries (hybrid of a crispy air fried potato).”
“Yes, another “5-star” restaurant… but this one actually earns it. The menu is unique—you can order single bites from several of the apps, which makes it easy to try a bunch of things (and every one hits). Think broiled Maine scallops, broiled Maine oysters, beer-battered cod cheeks, even foie gras with truffle. The eggplant terrine? Better than Nonna’s. Finished with the steak au poivre—cooked perfectly, with a cream sauce you’ll be thinking about later, and a silky, perfectly seasoned potato purée. Don’t miss this one.”
“We got married at Wayside Tavern last October, and their team was phenomenal! We had a smaller wedding of 20 people and it truly was everything we wanted in a smaller wedding. We had 2 semi-private spaces that were so cozy and the ambiance was perfect. The food was incredible, from our small cocktail hour to the apps and dinner - everything was delicious. The manager, Siobhan, was so easy to work with and emailed us throughout the year helping us with our various questions that we had. They accommodated everything that we wanted/needed, I truly couldn’t give them more praise!!! Thanks Wayside & their team for making our wedding night perfect - we are so lucky to have this special place in our neighborhood.”
“Our bartender Cassie was very attentive. The team seemed to work well together. They were knowledgeable and friendly. We loved loved the scallops (tender, flavorful) and the mussels (plump, juicy). The best part is that the apps were priced per piece so we could get a bunch of small tastes of everything. Wish we lived here so we could go back and try everything.”
“I really enjoyed my experience here. Food was top notch. I got the steak au poivre with Bone Marrow and mashed potatoes, all the flavors were really good. This may be unpopular, but I thought the tiramisu was AWFUL, way too watery- we didn’t finish it and we were disappointed by that because everyone raves about it. Still very much worth a visit though.”
