Gersi Rva is an Italian restaurant in the The Fan District neighborhood of Richmond.
“Overall worth the visit! The steak was actually the winner here. The appetizers were fantastic also; I would definitely recommend the fried goat cheese, Caesar salad and the fig bruschetta. Everyone else got pasta which they seemed to enjoy. It's a small spot but ambience was pretty nice! Espresso martini was espresso-forward and tasted great as well”
“Tremendous experience overall. Bread service was sort of needed as the restaurant was quite busy but was enjoyed quite a bit. Both the ravioli and the lamb ragú were incredible. Wine and drinks were great and our server was more than willing to offer suggestions or pairings with our meal. I enjoyed the environment quite a bit inside as it definitely harkened back to a time in the past. I would absolutely return here during my next trip to Richmond.”
“Gersi is at the top of the pack if you are looking for a fantastic Italian restaurant in Richmond. Cozy and crowded. Great vibe. There are a few outdoor tables. Definitely make a reservation. The service was excellent and very responsive - extra shout out to Dan, behind the bar, who took care of our every need. The wine list is modest, and perhaps at the top end of pricing, but they do have a selection of some nice Italian reds. Every dish was delicious - and the portions are generous. Their burrata was perfect consistency with great taste. Don’t miss trying some of their homemade pasta dishes - the rigatoni was amazing, and the calamari with black fettucini out of this world!! We will definitely be back! Save us seats at the bar, Dan!”
“Been hearing lots of good recommendations of this place and I’ll be honest, the mediocre service kind of ruined the experience for me. I think we waited around 20 minutes before we even got a drink order and about 45 before someone took our order. Seems like the server was training and overwhelmed because he was not effectively managing our table and the others around us. I think we saw him 4-5 times total during our 2 hour visit. My brother ordered a house salad and never received it which was fine, but the server did not seem aware that people order a side salad to come with their meal as an option….We did finally receive bread service after the table next to us asked for some so thanks to them to reminding the server. The bread and beans side was amazing. Food was decent, I enjoyed my chicken parm, but my partner did not enjoy his Mezzi Rigatoni Ragu. He said there was something was off with the meatballs and sausage. They did make a perfect Aperol Spritz though. Restaurant is very dark, crowded, and loud, which is fine but seems like it makes it hard for the server to navigate. Just not my favorite experience.”
“Pretty bad experience from start to finish my first time at Gersi. We had a reservation at 7:30 and did not get seated until after 8:30 since there was a party lounging at our table that did not want to leave (and I suppose the staff did not want to ask them to leave even after paying the bill, either). We stood outside for over an hour before someone asked if we wanted to come in and sit at the bar. We ordered one drink at the bar and waited an additional 30 minutes before we were seated. For our troubles, they offered us a singular slice of toast with tomatoes on top for our party of six. Hilarious. After being seated, we waited probably another 30 minutes (three hours after our reservation time) until we were able to place our orders. The food was good, but not worth waiting three hours for. When the check came, they charged us for the “free” bruschetta they offered as a consolation prize and doubled each of the drinks we ordered at the bar. Our waiter was very frustrated to have to fix this mistake, and it took him three separate tries to fix the check for us. We wasted several hours of our life here for some regular tasting pasta. The highlight was actually the desserts, which were extremely tasty. Don’t think I will ever come back.”
