“I saw Shiro listed as the best sushi in San Antonio and I had to see for myself if it was true. I mean weve been to Yozora their sister restaurant so we had faith and... It is indeed. Reservations a must. Gorgeous patio seating with riverwalk view. Inside is a bit noisy, crowded, but clean. But the service is amazing. Jameson took good care of us. They have great happy hours: Tue 4 to 10 Wed/Thur 4 to 6 Sun 12 to 3, 4 to 9 You can get actually good rolls like their Thai Surprise and Soul Sister. They are delicious and easily the best sushi I've had. Their hot line gyoza and walu nachos also on happy hour are good. My sister and mom got their meals wagyu teriyaki and Chilean seabass. Pricier but comes with a lot. I loved the salad . All great food just do it.”

“I am convinced that this is the best tasting food you can get in this area. The wagyu teriyaki is such a great deal, omg! So tender, and cooked with this delicious gravy with mushrooms. Each bite makes me throw my head back, I swear. I devoured every bite of the salad and tangy dressing in-between bites of beef. They serve the perfect sake to enjoy these meals, so please indulge. “We went here for a date night and it was the perfect spot! We had one of the best meals we’ve had in a while! We ordered the crispy toro which was 100/10, would come back just for this dish 🤤. We also got the wagyu teriyaki and Chilean sea bass which were also delicious! Looking forward to coming back!”

“Very average fusion-style sushi joint. In my opinion, Shiro focuses too much on the artistic side. That may be a desire for some people, but I prefer practicality over showmanship, especially when talking about overpriced sushi. Prices for rolls have doubled over the past 5 years. Speciality rolls - especially the “show me your moves” - falls short on the cuts of fish, overdoes it with a mashup of accents and glazes. The nigiri averages $8 a piece and are smaller than the typical piece of nigiri (and they’re pre-sauced and include unnecessary enhancements for a piece of nigiri). Even the base spicy tuna roll infuses a bunch of extra components. I’ll reiterate… maybe that’s what some people are looking for - there’s a unique blend of flavors you won’t find at a normal sushi restaurant - but it just feels unnecessary. The atmosphere is solid. They have an all-day Tuesday happy hour menu which was a nice surprise. A couple dollars off some of the basic rolls and cheaper drinks. For our specific experience, the speciality rolls somehow made it out 15 minutes before 2 pieces of nigiri. Our waiter was nice but inattentive on multiple occasions. The $25 rolls had great flavor but lacked sustenance. All-in-all, glad we tried it, but wouldn’t go back.”
