“Barra has some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Boston, but the real highlight of our meal there was Will, who somehow managed to serve, bartend, and run the whole place by himself that night while making everyone feel taken care of. We had a lot of good conversations with him —would have been worth it even if the food/drinks weren’t as great as they were. Sick music too.”

“The food was amazing. We couldn’t stop ordering more plates. The scallop appetizer was so refreshing and delicious! They also have a shrimp weekend special that was just packed full of flavor. My husband had the Birria taco dish and I had to fight him to a bite. The mezcal drinks were also done very well, we loved it. Before we left, the owner gave us two shots on the house because she knew we were from out of town. This was such a great dining experience, highly recommend!!”

“We ordered online last week. The food was tasty, but we were missing a taco from our order. It was labeled in Toast as coming with 2 tacos but we only got one. Tried to reach out to the restaurant about it... But surprise, surprise -- there's no way to contact them. The phone number goes straight to voicemail, and the mailbox is full. Tried to reach them on Instagram, tried to reach them thru Toast. No luck at all. This to me is a serious failing. What if they'd accidentally given us the wrong order completely? Driving all the way back to the restaurant to talk to someone in person as the only option feels unacceptable for 2026. We really appreciated the flavor, so we *might* eat here again, but only dine-in, so we can get in touch with someone if there are any issues. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but that didn't bother us as much as it did for some other reviewers-- Dining out is a luxury, not a necessity, and restaurant workers deserve a living wage. If you want cheap tacos, go to a counter-service taquería instead.”

“Unfortunately we had a terrible experience here last night. It took almost an hour to get drinks. The food we ordered was delicious, but no one explained the small plate idea and we under ordered, and one meal didn’t come. My meal was completely cold. I nicely went up to the waiter to ask that my meal be heated up and asked if we could order a second round of drinks. We had been there for an hour and a half at this point. The waiter came up to the table then started talking to the woman in at the table next to us, which we found out was the owner. They gave us a round of shots (my husband asked for) which I appreciated, but the second round of drinks never happened, and my dish was never heated up or replaced. The owner was rude to us on two different occasions, and the waiter was clearly overworked and doing his best. We ended up going to a different restaurant because we were still hungry. It’s too bad because the food, minus my cold emoladas, was delicious.”
