“My husband and I recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at the Wayside Inn and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. Everything was wonderful, from my interaction with Caitlin in the events office to Thomas our server the day of our dinner party. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and ridiculously accommodating (my guests had some serious food allergies and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was safe). My guests, my husband, and I all had a joyful and memorable evening. Thank you to everyone at the Wayside Inn for making our celebration so special! ❤️❤️❤️”

“My bestfriend had her reception in their restaurant. The place is nice. It feels like you're in a colonial historical place. The surrounding is very relaxing. Unfortunately we didn't like the food here. Thanks to Michael our server he made it special. He has excellent service, very attentive and very friendly.”

“April 20, 2026 I discovered Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, 72 Wayside Inn Rd., Sudbury, MA (01776), over 30 years ago, when a fellow Lesley University graduate student introduced me to the place for dinner. Since then, my family, and friends have met for dinner, off and on during that time span, visiting for birthdays, Christmas, and the odd spring day, like today. My husband and I were in Wellesley at the Boston Marathon on Monday. We decided to drive over to the Wayside Inn to have a late lunch. We didn’t have a reservation, but were seated right away in the small dining area. I ordered the Yankee pot roast, with mashed potatoes and squash. My husband had the French onion soup, along with a Caesar salad. Promptly, our waitress, Mary Jo, brought rolls and drinks to our table. Within a short period of time, our food arrived. My pot roast was hot, tender, and flavorful. The side dishes complemented the pot roast. The corn bread muffin and additional rolls were fresh and delicious. My husband’s onion soup was piping hot, full of cheese, and what you would expect from a good French onion soup, His Caesar salad was huge, crisp, and much too big to eat in one setting. Lucky for us, we could take home what we couldn’t consume that day. As mentioned by other reviewers, the ambiance is lovely at this historic inn. We enjoyed a tasty lunch in a quiet setting, with only a few other tables occupied during the time of our lunch. Our server, Mary Jo, did an excellent job of making sure we were well cared for during our visit. After lunch, we wandered into the gift shop, took a quick look around the inn, and a longer look outside in the adjacent manicured garden and grounds. We also drove down the road to the Wayside Inn Grist Mill (see photos with this review). It had been many years since we had stopped by the Wayside Inn for a meal. We are glad that we took the opportunity to stop in today. Yes, prices for meals have increased over the years, but the charm, memories, and special quality of the Wayside Inn remain intact.”

“Absolutely lovely!! This gorgeous piece of American history is a delight! Built in 1760 s. Service was great attentive but not intrusive We had a small room for the 10 of us and it was definitely worth it. The fireplace was warm and comfortable on that cold Sunday afternoon the candles ( battery operated) were charming in the windows and at the fireplace The food was delicious from appetizers to desert… scallops were sweet and tender. The pot roast yummy. My son in law loved the turkey dinner. Of course the kids menu was full of kids meals. The gift shop had a few unique items that I put into the adults Christmas stockings We also took pictures at the grist mill and took everyone to the candy store @ Fords general store. All in all a wonderful afternoon”

“Went to the wayside for a nice dinner for my mother’s birthday since she loves historic sites. The experience was very typical as we have eaten there a few times, however this whole experience was tainted by our waiter at the end of the dinner when they began to act passive aggressive about the tip that was left. Just felt like something that should have been cried about in a private space instead in front of my mother and our party on her birthday. That sort of temper tantrum is revolting and really changed my opinion of the establishment. Either pay the wait staff a livable wage, or to set expectations to them before they take the job that tipping is a gift and not a requirement so don’t expect perfect tip percentages every time you wait on a table.”
