“SO GOOD!!!! Ordered the raw scallop crudo, the tamarind fish, and two desserts (fried banana w ice cream and sago sago). Everything was extremely delicious and the service was great, the only sad part was I didn’t have more room in my stomach to order more lol. I also loved the interiors.”
“Tried the tasting menu, it’s a nice way to try a variety of dishes and sample the fusion menu. The food was decent overall, though the pricing felt a bit on the higher side for the experience. The restaurant was quite loud during dinner, and with the 2-hour dining limit plus reminders about the next reservation, the meal felt a little rushed toward the end. Overall still a good experience, but I was hoping for a slightly more relaxed atmosphere and service for the price point”
“The high rating and the allure of “reimagined Malaysian cuisine” was the hook that drew us in; the multiple preexisting multi paragraph essay like Google reviews intrigued us; the execution of the food combined with the excellent level of service is absolutely what 1) helps us understand why people would want to write novels on Soos’ praises, and 2) will absolutely have us coming back for more. bullet points on the experience: - fun ambiance, not too loud, just hits the vibe between upscale Ossington and homey/ “hole in the wall”. - excellent food. like really, really, well executed. rarely have we ever been to places where EVERY single dish was a knockout, but kudos to the chef(s) because they DELIVERED. scallop crudo, so fresh and so many layered flavours. coconut tacos, are you kidding me?? char kway teow, the smokiness on that noodle had us DREAMING. pineapple pie, was there crack in there??? - dishes were taken off our table within 5 mins of us finishing it. a very underrated part of the dining experience, a very small gesture that speaks absolute volumes and helps shape a rather large portion of the perception of a restaurant. attentiveness 10/10, no notes. - FOH team worked like a beautifully greased wheel to provide all guests with an excellent experience. all the girls were kind, quick, knowledgeable, and everything you want in an employee. absolute queens!! tl;dr they can take all my money.”
“Solid, but not fantastic. Went for the tasting menu which is good value for the price, but only really enjoyed half of the dishes. The salad, pork and noodles were the favourite. Wouldn’t reco the fish. Would be nice if the tasting menu included a sweet dish at the end. Cocktails were decent but you’re looking at ~$19 a pop. Got in without a reso on a Saturday night, lots of tables for 2 available and a group space in the back for larger parties.”
“Came here on a friday evening, wasn’t busy at the time, was able to walk-in for a table of three. We ordered three dishes + dessert. The Kapitan Tacos, Murtabuk, and the Banana Leaf Fish. Kapitan Tacos had good flavours, blended well together. Murtabuk was absolutely delicious, jam packed with flavour and a hint of spice. Banana Leaf Fish was not my favourite, the trout didn’t seem fresh. It tasted a bit fishy. For dessert we shared the Sago Sago. Mid way through eating it, my friend bit into something hard that did not belong to the dish. It appeared to be a piece of metal from a stainless steel scrubber… it really took us by surprise. We brought it to our server’s attention. The staff replaced it and comped it, but it was a bit unsettling. Overall, the vibes were decent, not too shabby of an experience. Will not be coming back.”
