“From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for a great evening. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between upscale and inviting, and the service matched it from start to finish. We started with the truffle fries, and I'm so glad we did. These weren't your typical skinny fries. They were thicker-cut, almost like slim potato wedges, perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served with a delicious aioli that had everyone reaching for one more fry. The drinks were just as impressive. We ended up ordering a few rounds of one of their signature champagne cocktails with a strawberry flavor, and they were so good that we kept ordering them throughout the evening. Light, refreshing, and the perfect cocktail to enjoy while catching up with friends. I decided on the Chef's Three-Course Tasting Menu for $55, and it was an incredible value. I started with the Hearts of Palm Ceviche, which was fresh, bright, and incredibly refreshing. Every bite was full of flavor and set the tone for the rest of the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the tenderloin tips with the lobster tail, and this dish absolutely delivered. The tenderloin tips were cooked an exact medium temperature, and the lobster tail was tender, buttery, and every bit as delicious as I had hoped. I also had the opportunity to try the tuna tartare, and I can honestly say it was one of the best things I ate all night. It was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and I'll absolutely be ordering it again on my next visit. To finish, I had the Bananas Foster, which was the perfect sweet ending to an exceptional meal. Someone else in our group ordered the Wagyu sliders and couldn't stop talking about how good they were, so those have officially made my list for next time. One final note about the service. Victor, who welcomed us upon arrival, was exceptional. He made sure we were comfortably accommodated and set the tone for a truly enjoyable evening. That level of hospitality, combined with the outstanding food and beautiful atmosphere, made the entire experience feel polished from beginning to end. Between the outstanding food, delicious cocktails, beautiful atmosphere, and impeccable service, this is a restaurant I'll gladly return to. I'll definitely be back sooner rather than later, and that tuna tartare will be the first thing I order. Highly recommended.”

“This place is so much fun! It doesn’t even feel like you’re in Adams Morgan! The staff is so friendly and the drinks very unique and not that expensive for speakeasy bars. The food is worth planning for dinner! Most bars like this in DC only serve snacks if at all. So, I had dinner before coming here and regretted! Will come back to try more of the menu. Even if you get to sit by the barrel :D it will be fun and it can be romantic ;)))”

“Code Red and be sure to knock twice at this speakeasy DC hideout! A throwback to prohibition with a flair for fun, capturing the jazz heritage. A Tribune newspaper menu packed with five-star dishes sets the tone for an unprecedented meal. You will feel a sensibility only held by the most notorious from this period in American History. Only this time the lamb is outrageously good, topped off by a molten caramel dessert; now you know what all the Jazz is about!”

“Easily one of my favorite restaurants in DC!! The quality of the food is excellent, as is the service staff. The guy at the door is always willing to play with me and ask me for the code from the window 😅 and the owner is super fun and playful! The bartender is awesome and remembers the people he serves. Can’t go wrong with the wonderful servers. DC is not really a foodie town, honestly…sorry DC…but Code Red would absolutely make you think it is! 🥰”

“Came for restaurant week. Had never been to a speakeasy style restaurant/bar before, very unique. Good happy hour deals. Overall, I thought the food was very good. I especially liked the Rack of Lamb, Bouillabaisse and the Tuna Crudo. Desserts were solid, although I thought the crust was a bit too sweet on the Creme Brulee. The only thing I didn't care for was the Brussels sprouts, thought it needed something to balance the acidity of the cheese. Good, friendly service. The most memorable thing will be the interior design. It seems like they put a great deal of thought and effort into it.”
