“First time at Appalachian Bistro and will be coming back any chance we get! Trust me on these recs, Start with the burnt ends, they are so tender and a great way to start off this experience. Next order the pork chop. My fiance doesn’t like pork chops but it was highly recommended and I wished so bad that I got it. The chicken was still delightful, but that pork chop…. I could talk about it for days. To end the night get the bourbon bread pudding.. your life will be changed forever. We also got the crème brûlée but I highly recommend getting the bread pudding! We sat outside and Scott was our waiter! Ask for him when you go, very knowledgeable and personable!”
“This was an incredible experience. The atmosphere captures the spirit of a true Appalachian farm-to-table restaurant. Our server, Dell, was excellent and especially accommodating of my celiac disease. There were plenty of gluten-free options, and every dish we tried was outstanding. We ordered 4 starters/small plates and each one was memorable. My personal favorite was the cornbread and the pea salad, and my girlfriend said the hushpuppies were the best she's ever had in her life. I had the seasonal catch as an entrée and it was the best cooked salmon of my life, exceptionally tender. We drove 45 minutes from our cabin to dine here, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.”
“Ultrayummy. Ultrayummy may or may not be a word but it is exactly what Dancing Bear Bistro is. From their famous homemade bread to the firepit s'mores to the farm to fork menu this place is truly beyond yummy! The wine list and cocktail menu was also similarly wonderful. Everything tasted amazing and I even had room for dessert. I think my favorite thing was the quiet and efficient service that was provided by everyone especially our server Cameron.”
“Absolutely beautiful Appalachian restaurant tucked away in the hills of the Smokies. The atmosphere is breathtaking. The moment you step out of your vehicle, you’re surrounded by lush gardens, and the scent of firewood drifting from the outdoor fire pit instantly makes you feel like you’ve arrived in the mountains. As you walk up the path, beautiful flowers line the way, and the gorgeous front doors are as inviting as the restaurant itself. Inside, it’s the perfect blend of rustic Appalachian charm and understated elegance. We had a 9:00 PM reservation on a Saturday evening—the very last one available. My boyfriend had made arrangements ahead of time to surprise me, and the staff went far beyond anything we could have expected. He emailed them beforehand to explain that I’ve been having a difficult time lately and could use a little extra kindness. He even offered to pay for anything they could do to make the evening special. Their response? Not to worry—they would take care of everything. And they truly did. They seated us at a beautifully prepared table with flowers, candles, and a heartfelt postcard waiting just for me. They even welcomed us with glasses of champagne. Those thoughtful touches may have seemed small to them, but they meant absolutely everything to me. As for the food—divine doesn’t even begin to cover it. We shared the fingerling potatoes, which were incredible. I ordered the beef tips, and because I’m gluten-free, they brought me the most amazing gluten-free cornbread. It tasted like something straight from an Appalachian grandmother’s kitchen—warm, comforting, and unforgettable. They even went a step further and made a bouquet out of the flowers so that I could take them home! These small touches manager stopped by the table to let us know she picked them up at a farmers market, they were the most beautiful and fragrant roses I’d ever seen. Everything was so exceptional that we returned the very next evening, and somehow, it was just as outstanding the second time around. An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. Thank you Dancing Bear, your attention to detail is as outstanding as your food. We appreciate all you did for us.”
“Fantastic food. Cozy/romantic atmosphere. If you like interesting ingredients, playful flavors, and new combinations of textures, all wrapped up in attentive service with the option of you relaxing by a bonfire and cooking a s'more at the end of your experience...well, you should have been here last week. Add a delightful cocktail (or two) on top of that, and you have a memorable evening! We have been able to bring family or friends who are visiting from out of town here a couple times, and it's always an overwhelmingly positive experience. I love that they have new options, but also keep staples on the menu. Occasionally, the vegetables can be a little undercooked for my preference. That said, I think about the charred grapes on the poached pear salad quite often... Thank you, Dancing Bear!!”
