“We absolutely loved the food and wine at Dear Gus! We ordered a bottle of the Monastero Suore Cistercensi orange wine, it was fantastic and perfectly crisp for our appetizers. The oysters, topped with their amazing pomegranate chili vinaigrette, were so tasty that I had to put in an order for a second round. We also got the endive salad and the beef, and both dishes were perfectly executed and packed with flavor. The playlist inside was awesome, and we completely lucked out with our timing: we got to soak up the electric energy of the Turkey fans marching to the stadium right outside. Highly recommend!”
“INCREDIBLE!!! What an awesome experience. Absolutely will be back. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared between us, and all of them were 10/10. We met the owner, and were visited by all of the staff members at some point in our visit with a warm and welcoming vibe. Their knowledge of food creation and wine recommendations were unmatched. We were so so impressed!!!”
“I had dinner here last night with a group of friends and came away genuinely impressed by both the kitchen and the service. Our server was warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable about the menu, explaining each dish with clarity and enthusiasm without ever feeling overbearing. That level of hospitality elevated the entire experience. What stood out most throughout the meal was the clear sense of intention behind the cooking. Even in dishes I felt conflicted about, there was obvious technical care and thoughtful composition. The Spätzle, Ham and Pea dish was the most intellectually interesting course for me, though also the one I’m still undecided on. The dish evoked something reminiscent of a refined ham and pea soup crossed with soft gnocchi, which made for a comforting yet unusual combination of textures and flavours. Individually, each component was excellent: the peas were remarkably sweet and vibrant, the ham brought depth and savouriness, and the overall execution showed restraint and precision. I’m not entirely certain the dish fully came together for my palate as a complete composition, but it was undeniably considered cooking and the kind of dish that stays in your mind afterwards. The steak was beautifully cooked, tender enough to melt in the mouth while still maintaining a satisfying structure and char. I particularly enjoyed the blended chimichurri-style sauce, which added freshness and complexity without overpowering the beef itself. Personally, I didn’t feel the hickory sticks were needed, as the steak already stood confidently on its own, though others at the table enjoyed the added texture. The standout dish of the evening was easily the mussels with nduja. The balance there felt especially confident: rich and creamy with a gentle heat from the nduja that never overwhelmed the shellfish. Paired with the bread for soaking up the sauce, it was deeply satisfying and probably the dish I would return for immediately.”
“LOVE Dear Gus! The vibe is unmatched especially on a beautiful day with the sun coming in through the windows. The food was outstanding and they of course have a lovely drink selection. The seasoning on the popcorn is divine and you can truly tell that the bread and butter is freshly made. The endive salad was super bright and the buckwheat crunch on top was such a lovely addition that I have never had on a salad before. The gnocchi was perfectly pillowy — arguably the best I’ve had. The bavette wasn’t my favorite but was still quite good and a solid main dish to have. Would highly, highly recommend!”
“Dear gus is a treasure. Almost hidden on Quebec street we found it easily and had a great dinner there. It has a European vibe and the staff are excellent answering all our questions, one of which was 'who is Gus?'. Turns out he is the owner's rabbit and his presence is on both the menus and wine glasses. Great wine list btw. We enjoyed a Pinot noir with our mussels Taglioni. For dessert we recommend the carrot cake. Gus would approve. We'll be back.”
