The notorious Ed Debevic’s was opened in 1984 and has been renowned as Chicago’s most famous retro themed diner ever since. Famously known for its snarky service & 1950s throwback decor, Ed’s quickly became a fun & unique staple in the culinary world. Now re-opened after a brief hiatus, the brand new Ed Debevic’s is shinier, tastier, and sassier than ever before. Make your reservation today; you’re guaranteed to be blown away by our neon adorned walls, tasty burgers, and lack of charm! If you’re looking for a traditional dining experience, you’ve gotten yourself into a boatload of trouble. Quirky servers in flashy costumes serve up great burgers, jumbo wieners, cheese fries, huge salads, milkshakes, and The World's Smallest Ice Cream Sundae – all delivered to your glittery booth with a side order of sass. Don’t expect this diner to be a “Please” and “Thank You” kind of place, or you might just get your feelings hurt! The servers are encouraged to create characters – ranging from jocks, to beauty school dropouts, to greasers, to nerds – and are even known to drop their trays and break into choreographed dance numbers on top of the soda counters! “This place is one of a kind! Been in Chicago all my life but first time visiting this restaurant today. My friend and I had a great time, so many laughs. DJ Retro was so hilarious and the Bumblebee guy, had us in tears!! Great customer service and I really enjoyed my turkey burger. Definitely going back”
“First of all, what a fun vibe! Had no idea what to expect, but knew we wanted diner food. DELICIOUS. Every bite. Get the bread pudding French toast! Gingee was our server and she was wacky in the best ways. Cannot wait to bring everyone I know here.”
“Please be aware servers are gonna have a funny/casually rude tone; which is lovely! The decoration is retro looking and cute. There’s also a fun dance while we were dining there. Overall a pretty good experience. The only thing is that the food can be improved a lil.”
“Crazy fun place and we actually ended up going there twice during our visit to Chicago. The bottomless Mimosas are a great deal but also quite dangerous so watch out! The skillets were sooooo filling that we couldn’t eat anything else for the rest of the day. Next time we had learned our lesson and took slightly more lighter dishes. We had a pleasure to have the Postboy as our server and he was so great! He took such excellent care of us and we couldn’t have a better experience.”
“Very good food we grabbed from this cozy little place this morning!! We went into the restaurant without looking up beforehand and it DID NOT disappoint. People working on shift were freaking FANTASTIC. Loved the sassy ladies working up front. The host made my girlfriend and I laugh a bunch- just all around a visually pleasing and great place. I wish they had more places like this in Detroit. It was so refreshing to spend the morning in a fun environment. Thank you guys for a great Morning:)”
