Welcome to Halter Ranch! When booking your reservation please keep in mind; Party sizes are limited to 8 guests, including non-tasters. Please one reservation per group. Multiple parties cannot be sat together. Due to the nature of the property and experiences, we have a limited capacity to host large groups, families, and pets on the patio. Please note for parties of 7 or more, a gratuity of 20% for all food and beverages enjoyed during the reservation will be added to the bill. Founded in 2000, Halter Ranch has a rich history and a commitment to sustainable methods and environmental stewardship. The ranch today spans over 2700-acres, with 180-acres of wine grapes, 15-acres of organic walnuts, and 10-acres of organic olives.
“Halter Ranch was easily one the highlight of our trip to Paso Robles. The wines are organic and superb, the estate is stunning but their staff is what makes it such a welcoming stop - especially our lovely guide, Timothy Argie. We booked the Defender Estate Tour and I can't recommend it enough. If you're looking to break up the usual tasting-room-to-tasting-room routine, this is the experience to book. Getting out onto the property, through the vineyards, and learning about the regenerative organic farming practices firsthand gives you a much deeper appreciation for what makes Halter Ranch special. Timothy was an outstanding host. He was personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the land, the wines, and the history of the ranch. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he did a fantastic job bringing the property to life throughout the tour. What made our visit especially memorable was that I had coordinated a surprise proposal during the tour at the incredible Ancestor Oak. Timothy went above and beyond to help make it happen. He seamlessly wove the proposal into the Defender Tour experience, helped preserve the surprise every step of the way, and made sure everything felt natural and unforced. As someone trying to pull off a surprise engagement, I can't overstate how much I appreciated his help, attention to detail and cheerful coordination with our photographer. When we returned to the tasting room after the proposal, the entire Halter Ranch team made us feel celebrated and welcome. The hospitality was exceptional from start to finish. In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much that we wished we could have canceled our remaining reservations and spent the rest of the day there. The wines really are fantastic, the property and tasting room are memorable, and the people will have you eager to get back for the next visit. Becoming wine club members was an easy decision, and we cherish the bottles we receive through the mail—especially the Ancestor Estate Reserve Blend, which has become one of our favorites. If you're visiting Paso Robles, Halter Ranch should absolutely be on your list. And if you have the opportunity to take the Defender Estate Tour with Timothy, don't hesitate—you'll leave with a much deeper appreciation for both the wine and the incredible place it comes from.”

“Halter Ranch is one of our favorite wineries in Paso Robles. The location and views are stunning, the food is fantastic (the Scotch Egg is a must) and of course the wines are amazing. I'm a red drinker and for me the Ancestor is a favorite, but their Estate Rose and Organic Picpoul Blanc have taught me to enjoy white wines, both are very light and crisp. The staff is fun and super knowledgeable and prices are reasonable for a 5 star experience. You can't go wrong with a visit to Halter Ranch.”
“I flew into Halter Ranch and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Paul was very helpful getting me set up at the Pilot Cottages and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the property. The braised short rib was so tender and the olives appetizer was amazing. I was given a tour of the Caves and got to watch some of the processing of their olive oil. Such a memorable trip. I’m looking forward to future visits.”
“Breathtaking views, landscaping and art. Artistic presentation also in the delicious candied black cod and scotch egg. Burger and chicken sandwich were also good (although the burger would benefit from a little Dijon in the spread and while we asked for some, it never appeared). The sustainability is impressive and admirable. Service though was slow and it took over an hour to receive our mains and over 90 minutes to finish the basic tasting (no extras). The wines also were not our favorites. I would love to try the restaurant again and see if that was a fluke.”
