Live Rock-n-Roll Mariachi Band Every Friday & Saturday 6pm - 10pm About Hussong’s Mexican Cantina Founded in 1892, Hussong’s Mexican Cantina is famously known as “The Bar That Built A Town.” What began as a small saloon in the fishing village of Ensenada, Mexico—opened by German immigrant Johann “John” Hussong—has grown into one of the most legendary cantinas in North America. More than 130 years later, the original location still stands in Ensenada and remains family-owned. Hussong’s is also celebrated as the birthplace of the Original Margarita, created in 1941 by bartender Don Carlos Orozco. Today, that legacy lives on with our curiously strong margaritas, hand-shaken with fresh ingredients. At Hussong’s, guests experience award-winning Mexican cuisine, vibrant flavors inspired by Baja, and a lively cantina atmosphere where history, music, and celebration come together. From legendary margaritas to unforgettable fiestas, every visit is part of the story!
“Walked by this place on our way to grab pizza, and it looked so cool & fun we came in instead and what a treat it was!! Regina was FANTASTIC! The food was quick and delicious. Atmosphere was amazing. Will be a staple for us anytime we are in the area.”
“Fantastic atmosphere, food and service! Margaritas were delicious, food was served quick, hot, and tasted so fresh! One of the best waitresses we have ever had. Thank you Regina! So attentive and helpful. Mariachi band was so good, they went around to every table and were so sweet and friendly. The chimichanga was HUGE, the birria appetizer was a big hit, and I got the mix and match combo. Will definitely be coming back next time we are in town!”
“So good! Delicious drinks and the food is exceptional. We've been here now at least four times and always come back when in town. Danielle our server/bartender was very helpful, friendly and provided top tier service you expect in Vegas. Very reasonable prices for the amount you get.”
“My partner and I are staying at Luxor Hotel. The restaurant was a little hard to find but we didn’t have any help. We walked from the Luxor front entrance to the Mandalay Bay entrance and didn’t know exactly where The Shoppes were, but we found it eventually. Ruben A was our waiter, very nice and efficient. The original margarita is SOLID. Such a good balance. My partner got an NA strawberry lemonade. The bartender was great! We got the guacamole which was so fresh and initially we weren’t sure if we liked it, but as we ate more, it was SO good. We also shared the combination plate with three entrees, two street tacos (chicken and Barbacoa), quesadilla with chicken, and taquitos with beef. I loved the barbacoa and my partner really liked the chicken especially on the quesadilla. Everything was topped with tomatillo, tomato, some sort of chipotle aioli. It was a great combo of savory and fresh. Highly recommend. For how expensive Vegas is and how touristy some spots are, this felt like a place we’d visit frequently as locals, it was humble and more affordable. Oh, and a huge vegan menu!”
“After looking at the great reviews and earlier in the evening que plus full restaurant we thought this would be a real wow as we love good Mexican food. How disappointing our experience was though. We asked specifically to have our starter first before the main course and this was reiterated several times and confirmed by our server. Now we have had Chicken loaded Nachos at numerous places before as well as several places in Vegas and what we experienced was below a standard we expect. But worse to come our sizzling carne asada fajitas arrived moments after we had started our starter? So after trying to explain their mistake they eventually took it away. After speaking with our server all he would say is they are very fast? Now about 20 minutes later after finishing our starter the server asked if we were ready for the main and it appeared instantly? So it was clear that our once sizzling Fajitas were now an over warmed version of what they took away and more like frazzled and the corn fajitas welded together and no longer able to make proper wraps which fell to pieces when trying. The actual meats were ok but mostly lacked the deeper authentic Mexican tastes overall we expected. I have been generous with 3 stars for our personal experience here. I am sure those other ratings were worth it for others but we would not come to another Hussong again and not recommend on our experience tonight.”
