Little Italy was built by the fishing industry. Ironside attempts to continue that narrative. It's our contemporary interpretation of the classic fish house and oyster bar. Located in a historic auction house on India St we did a full comprehensive restoration of the building, with three open-air culinary hubs featuring an expansive raw bar, chefs table, and bakery. We tried to be mindful of the past while looking towards the future. Groups of 6 or more will be charged an automatic 20% gratuity. A 4% surcharge will be added to all guest checks. For group reservations of 7 guests or more, please contact the restaurant at 619-269-3033 or via email to info@ironsidefishandoyster.com. Ironside is now taking reservations for patio and dining room seating. We are now offering Happy Hour MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 3:00PM - 5:00PM.
“Had a great experience at Ironside. We started with the oysters, which were fresh and flavorful, and the lobster roll was excellent with lobster and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed a few drinks that were well made and complemented the meal nicely. The service was outstanding from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. If you’re looking for great seafood, quality cocktails, and top-notch service, Ironside is definitely worth a visit.”
“We stopped by Ironside Fish & Oyster for lunch today, and everything was outstanding. We ordered the lobster roll, clams, and oysters, and every dish was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The lobster roll was probably the best I’ve had in the area. I’m usually not a big oyster fan, but I decided to give them another try, and they were absolutely perfect. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. The service was fast, smooth, and really made the whole experience enjoyable. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Great food, great service, and definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend!”
“The food was absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was the best I’ve had and the oysters were nice and fresh and so were the other dishes. However what takes the cherry on the cake were the banana pudding and it was to die for. Easily best banana pudding I’ve had and our server was kind and nice enough to do our table side banana pudding. We sat outside which was still pretty relaxing and chill. I would definitely come back here to try more things! The Empire Approves.”
“Great place and atmosphere for some local seafood! The vibe in here is great, from the furniture to the food and drinks. Located in Little Italy, it has a great busy atmosphere. We ordered oysters Rockefeller, raw oysters, fresh uni, grouper and shishito peppers. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The service was good, the waiter never really came back to check on us towards the end. Would love to come back to try other items!”
“I finally made it to Ironside after walking by and checking out the stunning decor on previous visits. I came for the fresh seafood, but the atmosphere stole the show. It feels like stepping onto a vintage ship, busy, lively, and full of energy. If you’re looking for an intimate dinner or low stim setting with dim ambiance, this isn’t it. If you want a fun San Diego experience with fresh seafood, it delivers. ⭐️Overall: (3.5/5) * Must Order: Sea Bass * Gluten-friendly? yes * Healthy Options: 8/10 * Seed Oil Friendly? Mostly. Order grilled or raw seafood. Limit sauces/dips. * Atmosphere: Iconic historic nautical ship with vintage vibes. Bustling, energetic, memorable, great people watching, tables close together. * Service: friendly but distracted * Cleanliness: Good * Best for? Friends • Family • Business • Solo bar • Oyster crawl • Celebrations * First Date? No * Noise Level: Medium, easy conversation * Restroom: awkward design, could be cleaner * Parking: Difficult * Stim level: high * Would I Return? Maybe, for Happy Hour or a fun group night 📌 Know Before You Go * Happy Hour 3-5pm ($1 oysters) * Gluten friendly * Reservations recommended * Menu changes daily based on fresh fish market * Limited parking * Loud after 5 pm It’s not my favorite restaurant in San Diego, but the food is solid and the atmosphere is unforgettable. I’d consider it a San Diego bucket list stop at least once, especially if you’re bringing visitors from out of town or looking for a lively seafood experience.”
