“My boyfriend took me on a date here for happy hour and it was fantastic! They've done a great job transforming the space into a minimalist vibey lounge. We got some fun wines + N/A options and a few of the mezze plates. Being part of LuckyBolt, the breads are exceptional and their vegetable crudite (sourced from Chino Farms) was so creative. “The best kept secret in San Diego right now might be The Lounge at Lucky Bolt. It’s tucked away next to Lucky Bolt bakery in an unassuming strip mall with barely any signage. We walked into what felt like a literal hole in the wall, windows covered by curtains, and honestly, that only added to the charm. The vibe is low-key luxury: modern, intimate, and beautifully designed without feeling try-hard or corporate. The food was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Every dish felt thoughtful, balanced, and genuinely exciting — from the smoky baba ghanoush and unbelievably fresh crudité served over ice, to the seasonal morel and porcini mushrooms with ramps, perfectly cooked tender chicken with jus, and a strawberry hibiscus granita dessert that somehow tasted even better than it sounds. The breads that accompany the dishes are made to order and come out hot and fresh, which elevates the entire experience. The flavors are incredible (it is the sister project to a bakery, after all). Everything is farm-to-table, with sustainably and locally sourced ingredients. Chef Jessie previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in NYC and with David Chang, and you can tell there’s serious technique and style behind the food. But the restaurant still feels warm, welcoming, and community-oriented. I’ve been feeling for a while that the San Diego food scene was missing something, and I couldn’t quite figure out what it was. So many popular restaurants are owned by restaurant groups, and you can feel it the moment you walk in — polished service, but little personality. This place has truly great food, quality ingredients, a fine dining atmosphere, and real character, without feeling stamped out by a corporation. Pictures honestly don’t do the food justice. I also forgot to photograph half the dishes because everything looked so good that we immediately dove in.”

“Amazing! The Lounge is hidden gem in a random strip mall in sorrento valley under the 5 highway. Such an Intimate and cozy space. All farm to table ingredients sourced from their partnering farms in the San Diego county + they know their carbs (like really well). So far Wednesday + Thursdays are pizza nights and Fridays + Saturdays are mezze nights. Pictured—the mezze, the red snapper, happy egg, + welcome plate of house olives. Run by a small team that makes you feel at home and slow down to enjoy some thoughtful dishes. Perfect for a date night or a private party!”
