Sicily is a fertile, fiery island located smack in the middle of the Mediterranean. The largest of all the Mediterranean islands, Sicily has been part of Italy since 1861 but before that, the fierce island had many different rulers. All leaving behind their own culinary imprint. At Medusa, we honor this rich, complex heritage by bringing the dynamic flavors of Sicily to the heart of Detroit.
“What a fantastic dining experience…from the street food to the large plates everything was delicious. Since there were four of us we had a nice sampling of several items which were all excellent…l really enjoyed my margarita cocktail, the tomato and anchovy bread, the grilled sardines, mixed lettuce salad and whole grilled Branzino! Portions are more than enough to share family style. We were too full for dessert. Wonderful service and lively atmosphere! Will definitely return to try other menu items.”
“Top notch food, atmosphere, and service. Can’t say enough about the amazing servers. Frankie served us drinks in the outdoor lounge and Florence served us food. Florence rec’s were top tier. They recommended the bread with the eggplant salad to use the bread to dip with the eggplant salad! We really appreciated the pacing too. Sometimes restaurants bring out next dishes within a minute of you finishing one round. We loved that they asked if we were ready for the next and didn’t feel rushed at all. The gnocchi, fennel salad, bread, eggplant salad, chocolate cake, and cannoli were favorites but really hard to pick when everything was delicious and balanced.”
“Had an amazing and unforgettable time at Medusa Cucina Siciliana! My friends and I stopped in after a long shift and were greeted with such enthusiasm and genuine appreciation. The server, bartender, and hostess were all incredibly sweet and kind — we’ve honestly never felt so welcomed at a restaurant before. It completely made our night, and we still can’t stop talking about it! The food was phenomenal. We ordered the Bistecca, Salsiccia alla Kalsa, Pasta alla Norma, Pesce Spada, Panelle, Arancini al Burro, and Finocchio e Arancia — and every single dish was prepared with so much care and precision. You truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. One of my friend had a lot of dietary restriction and the server was able to personally work with her to figure out what she could eat! To end the night, we grabbed cannoli from the Cannoli Cart and tried the Settiville as well. The desserts were rich, perfectly sweet, and the ideal way to finish the meal. We left feeling completely full — and genuinely loved by the staff. This is officially our new favorite spot. We’ll 100% be back!”
“The food, ambiance and service were all top notch, it was amazing to experience a taste of Sicily here in Detroit. Every dish was even better than the last. My only regret was that we didn’t order everything! The experience of having our cannoli’s filled table side was a special touch, and it was so cool to learn that the beautiful cannoli cart was handmade by a local Detroit artisan! We can’t wait to return and are encouraging everyone we know to come experience Medusa!”
“Great night at Medusa. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated right away, which set a great tone for the evening. The restaurant has a very Mediterranean, beachy feel with lots of yellows and whites. The décor includes the classic Sicilian ceramic head planters known as Testa di Moro, which added a really fun and authentic touch. I really enjoyed the overall look and relaxed vibes of the space. The food was decent with a unique twist on traditional Sicilian dishes. Our favorites of the night were the anellini con broccoli and the Insalata Siciliana. Both had great flavor and stood out from the rest of what we tried. The wine list is extensive and fun to browse, with a lot of imported bottles that you don’t see everywhere. One of the highlights was the cannoli cart that’s brought right to the table. It’s such a fun touch and makes dessert feel like an experience. The cannolis themselves were good and a great way to end the meal.”
