“We were delighted to have found this special Thai restaurant in Whistler. The front host and our server were both very friendly and pleasant. Our server checked on us and refilled our water glasses often. The two of us ordered the octopus salad, the pad see ew with beef, and the sea bass entree. All the dishes were beautifully and colorfully presented and delicious. I have only one suggestion for the management and that is to note the degree of spiciness on the menu. It was fine for us (we are Chinese and often eat spicy), but still it was surprising that the octopus salad had such a spicy kick, and that the whole sea bass entree had a 5 alarm sauce. Nevertheless, delicious!”
“Mekong in Whistler is an absolute gem. We had the chefs table which was a total treat and left it totally up to the chef. We were in food heaven and firmly believe this restaurant should have a Michelin star. The restaurant was set in a beautiful part of the village and felt warm, buzzing and we felt so at home. Steve in particular was excellent explained every dish and couldn't do enough for us. If you're looking for a truly special dining experience in Whistler make sure you book a table at Mekong. We left feeling like we'd known the staff for years and can't wait to go back some day. Thank you!!!!!”
“Came to Mekong with a bunch of our friends and my oh my was it amazing!! Not only is the ambience SUCH a vibe, but the food is just as incredible. We started with the roti with curry which has the best texture ever, perfectly chewy and the sauce was ridiculous. Then we had the popcorn mushroom which was so unique I had never had anything like it, but it’s a must order (dip in the roti sauce for extra YUM). Then omg you NEED the scallop crudo. Our waiter said it was her favorite on the menu and I ca see why. The scallops were not fishy in the slightest and all the flavors were light but delishhhh. The pad see ew is some of the best I have ever had, it was bursting with flavor and the noodles were actually perfect. Other highlights were the drinks (the strawberry one is a must) and the halibut. I will also add that the waiters were so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. They were so nice about my tree nut allergy and made sure to make sure I didn’t eat anything with nuts. The chef was so sweet and came out to say hi to us which really made the experience at Mekong that much better. I had so so much fun with all my friends here, and will definitely be back the next time I am in Whistler! ☺️☺️⛷️”
“Coming to Whistler year after year as a family tradition, we were excited to see a new Asian restaurant in the area for us to try. Overall, a great experience; amazing atmosphere and good food. Highlights for me were the chicken wings which were perfectly crunchy, the lamb shank which was flavourful with a rich sauce, and the scallops which were a cool and refreshing appetizer. The octopus was well received by my family as well! The pad siew tasted great as well, though the noodles were “broken up”; it seemed like the noodles may have fallen apart after cooking, but they still tasted really good. Some of the vegetables were a bit too thick so they didn’t taste as seasoned on the inside, which I think if they were cut into thinner pieces it would allow more even coverage of seasoning and sauce. I felt the halibut was a little bit dry, though the surrounding sauce was good. The steak was okay, but I would likely stick to the other dishes as the steak didn’t stand out in comparison to the other options. Overall, a great meal, and definitely adding this place to my list of solid food options in Whistler.”
“A Beautiful Spot with Good—Not Great—Food Mekong is a beautiful restaurant located in the lovely Creekside Village, offering a stylish and modern atmosphere that makes for a pleasant evening out. The interior design is truly a highlight, creating an ambiance that almost makes you forget about the wait times. We visited during a busy dinner hour and found the place to be a bit understaffed, which led to a longer wait for our food. The staff themselves were very friendly and clearly working hard, so the service delays were understandable. When the food arrived, it was good and presented well, though it didn't quite meet the high expectations set by the prices, which are on the higher end for the portion sizes and flavor profiles. As someone familiar with the vibrant Asian food scene in Toronto, I found the dishes to be just a bit above average. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in the area and craving Asian cuisine in a beautiful setting. While I probably wouldn't make a special trip back, I'm glad we tried it. It's a solid choice for a nice night out, but perhaps not for the ultimate foodie experience.”
