Old Ebbitt Grill

“We went to DC for a concert. Upon our departure we stopped at Old Ebbitt Grill for brunch. I'm so glad we did. When I day, everything on the menu was look appetizing, I mean it. Our server Patrick, had only been working there 2 months and he was amazing. His knowledge of the dishes, suggestions on drinks and warm nature excited us more for the food. We enjoyed artichoke/crab dip, fried green tomatoes & fried zucchini appetizers. I had a watermelon, mint spritzer, sister-bloody Maryland. Dinner was double crab cakes w/ fries and slaw, corned beef w/eggs & sourdough bread. Dessert we took home consistedo of, key lime pie, peach cobbler w/ ice cream & a slice of carrot cake. We enjoyed our meal, server, drinks but most of all, time together as a family. I'm looking forward to visiting this establishment again. Oh, and the dessert just put us over the top. TY”

“Visited Old Ebbitt Grill with my family on May 27, 2026, and had a great experience. I ordered the Spicy Sausage Garganelli, a dozen oysters, and two Sierra Nevada Hazy Lil' Thing IPA drafts. Everything was flavorful especially the oysters, and the beer was a nice pairing with the meal. What stood out the most was the service. Our waiter, Stephen, was friendly, fast, and knew the menu well. He was able to answer our questions and recommend a few items, which made ordering a lot easier. Overall, good food, good drinks, and great service. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Washington, D.C.”

“Even though I’ve been here many times, this visit gave me a chance to experience more of the establishment, and it reminded me why this place remains such a popular DC staple. The restaurant itself is beautiful, full of character, and has an atmosphere that feels both historic and lively. I started at the bar while waiting for my table and decided to order a few appetizers. The fried oyster deviled eggs were amazing, especially after adding a little Tabasco for extra flavor. The hot honey carrots were tender and well prepared, although I would have loved a little more sauce. Later, I tried the mussels, which were excellent, and paired everything with a sangria that was smooth, refreshing, and absolutely delicious. The service was one of the highlights of the evening. The bartender was wonderful and had such a warm, welcoming personality. The hostesses were constantly smiling and cheerful despite how busy the restaurant was, which created a great first impression from the moment I walked in. Charlie, my server, was honestly one of the best servers I’ve ever had. He was entertaining, funny, attentive, and incredibly customer-focused. He made the dining experience even more enjoyable and deserves recognition for the outstanding service he provided. The only downside was the restroom. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and well maintained, the bathroom had an unpleasant odor. I think adding automatic air fresheners or addressing the ventilation could make a big difference. Overall, the food, drinks, atmosphere, and exceptional service far outweighed that one issue. Between the delicious appetizers, fantastic sangria, and memorable service from Charlie and the staff, this was another great experience at Old Ebbitt Grill, and I’ll definitely be back again.”

“We had an amazing dinner here! The prices are very good for the quality and food. The oysters were the best I ever had and the server explained that the restaurant does their own oyster tasting. We also ordered a filet mignon with a 1lb lobster and scallops. Everything was delicious, the lobster was very tender! For dessert we had the blueberry cobbler which was also amazing. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was so cool - they have a little pamphlet explaining the history of the restaurant and the art collection. It was really cool to learn about that background!”

“Old Ebbitt Grill is a classic D.C. experience — great atmosphere, rich history, and excellent food. The service was friendly and efficient even when busy. The oysters were super fresh and yummy. The overall vibe felt both elegant and welcoming. Perfect spot to relax after exploring the city. I would definitely come back.”
