The food was absolutely incredible, the drinks were fantastic, and the service from everyone on staff was truly top-notch. Whoever is running this place clearly knows exactly what they’re doing. “First time n and had an upscale lunch w friends. This space is a contrast in dining experience as the bar area is open, bright and super lofty where the dining area is ensconced in warm woods w a single window, almost as if u are up on deck n the bar and below decks, rowing away n the dining with a lonesome porthole for ur view. Weirdly cool. I think the hit of the meal was the fried oysters, so crisp and w a pop of built n heat, yum. I did really enjoy their unique slice approach to the sashimi as it really allows for a nice soy wasabi bath which I love. My friends said the trout was top shelf, and these guys frequently eat what they catch themselves so that was high praise for the kitchen. It’s easy to spend some coinage here but worth the price point for sure. Cast away peeps.”

“We had such a wonderful time at Balboa Surf Club! The ambiance was great, and every dish we ordered was a hit. The Crispy Oysters were a perfect start, and the Thai Shrimp Roll was delicious. Our Red Fish and Crab Cakes were both cooked to perfection. Our waitress, Gianni, deserves special recognition – her professionalism and warm service really enhanced our entire dining experience. Highly recommend this spot!”

“We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner because we love seafood, and overall had a pleasant experience. Even though we had a reservation, we did end up waiting quite a while for our table, which was a bit disappointing, especially on Christmas Eve when we expected things to be busy but well managed. We started with the coconut shrimp and crispy scallops, and both appetizers were absolutely delectable with unique, well-balanced flavors. For our entrées, my husband ordered the rainbow trout and I had the blackened redfish. Both dishes were delicious and stood out for their great flavor and thoughtful preparation. The ambiance was very nice and fitting for a special occasion. However, the service fell a bit short. Our server, Chase, was pleasant, but not very attentive. I asked for a drink refill that never arrived, and dessert was never offered, which was disappointing given that this was a celebration dinner. Despite a few service-related shortcomings, we still had a decent experience overall. The quality and variety of seafood, along with the restaurant’s unique atmosphere, make it a place we would return to, especially as seafood lovers.”
